In other news, the Council of Europe minister’s meeting in Helsinki voted 40 to 6 to reinstate Russia’s voting rights, paving the way to lifting of sanctions on Russia for annexing Crimea and invading Donbass. Lithuania’s foreign minister, whose country has been a Nato member since 2004, wondered aloud what “European values” even mean since nobody bothers to defend them on the eve of the European parliamentary elections. The collapse of European solidarity is good for Trump and Russia.
