Discussion: Iowa County Dems Posted Message Calling Reagan 'White Supremacist'

How long before the RepubliKKKlans apologize for the lies, the denegrating names, the breathtaking falsehoods leveled at President Obama???
How long before hell freezes over?
Sounds about the same time that any Democrat should apologize to the GOPigs for this ad.

You forgot to add he was pretty much brain dead the last three years of his presidency. It was a national embarrassment every time he talked, until they finally kept him shut up during his last year.

Finally some one the MSM recognizes had the guts to put it out there!
and, Here’s another bit, Reagan’s legacy, every thing he did was destructive to America. Personally I doubt our nation will survive.

What’s the problem here? Are GOPer’s trying to pretend like Reagan wasn’t a white supremacist?
So they’re disowning him then?

The repugs have spent millions since REAGAN left office to change history. The man started the downfall of the middle class is the bottom line.

Hard to cover it all! lol…Remember when the WH press corp shouted a question to him as he and Nancy strolled toward the White House? He looked completely lost and she whispered to him (Picked up on parabolic mic.): “Just say, ‘We’re working on it!’”…and like a puppet, he parroted exactly that.
It was sad, and so telling.

And his opponent in 1980 started his fall campaign in the town that was national headquarters of the KKK. That would be Carter.

If there was no Southern Strategy to apologize for, why did they?

Reagan’s invented legacy is very much real and there were some things that come to mind from his presidency that did have a racial undertone (invention of the “welfare queens” myth comes to mind), but I think the bluntness of the “white supremacist” comment takes the attention off of the deficit message - which is something that may actually get some conservatives to investigate a bit. Mashing the petty outrage button at the expense of chasing off people that may be convincible is something from the Republican playbook. These guys should have known better.

How supreme could a supremacist be by definition? If you believe that you’re better than others, you have serious issues and at best are a supreme bigot.

Reagan’s legend is skating on thin ice. Even the Repubs have to tippy-toe around it and know that their worldly god was no saint. In fact, he was one of those Hollywood elitist (B-actor at best really) types.

It’s fun watching the blood drain from the heads of conservatives when you throw it out there that he’s responsible for banning open carry in CA and was a full supporter of the Brady Bill. Reagan’s track record on 2nd amendment issues is technically worse than Obama’s. NRA would have graded him pretty damn low. Throw in Iran-contra, tax hikes, union involvement and of course the deficit and you’ve got nothing even remotely close to the grievances they perceive in Obama. Reagan’s legacy is the beacon on the hill as to how full of shit conservatives are about things that never were.

Edit: But fortunately for Reagan he was a folksy grandpa-like white guy, so none of those things matter to conservatives.

The Reagan family was and is offensive, and I have no respect for them. So it would seem the message was exactly what I would approve of.

The beginning of Reagan’s campaign in Mississippi locked him forever into the white supremacist pantheon, and nothing he’d done before or did since was the least contradictory of that.

And yet, we wind up debating them like they make sense or what they are saying is real. What they do is a calculated, poll tested, educated guess of a bluff. They are lying and they do it through their poker faces and they have trained themselves to believe their own lies, just like Ronald did.

We don’t really even need to out smart them to expose their lies and hideous history, we just have to answer them with the facts. Reagan’s real record sucks. The neo-cons are responsible for damn near destroying America and wrecking the world’s economy all the while watching thousands our sons and daughters die so they could follow through on their coup de grace lie and Cheney’s wet dream. Why don’t they talk about Bush, any of them? Because GWB wrecked the family name and was a f-up his whole life including his presidency.

There is a reason that they always are on the attack of President Obama and the Clintons etc., etc. They can’t talk about themselves without looking worse and their only ammo is to try and drag us down with them.

If they were ONLY white supremacists, they would be much better off.

Sometimes they do, but only in the context that “W. Bush wasn’t a real conservative, you see.” he was only put on a pedestal, touted, encouraged, voted on, bought and paid for by conservatives… but “W. Bush wasn’t a real conservative, you see.”

Offensive and disrespectful. But they’re not denying it. Reagan started his presidential campaign in the town where three civil rights workers were murdered in Freedom Summer, blowing the dog whistle as hard as he could.
