He was not far off with that remark. Reagan and his party did push Kevin Phillips and Nixon’s southern strategy to demonize African Americans. Anyone can read and watch Lee Atwater’s speech on can see on you tube. Reagan also launched his candidacy in the
country where three civil rights workers were murdered by the KKK , talking about “state’s rights” I would call him pretty racist.

“Myth Reagan” is the fiction that dominates the Righties’ revisionist history of modern American history. They cling to an illusion they see as truth, a figure that never really existed. Example 1: Reagan was a tax cutter and didn’t raise taxes on the Am public: Myth! The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 was, at the time, the largest peacetime tax increase in U.S. history.Ultimately, Reagan signed measures that increased federal taxes every year of his two-term presidency except the first and the last. These included a higher gasoline levy, a 1986 tax reform deal that included the largest corporate tax increase in American history, and a substantial raise in payroll taxes in 1983 as part of a deal to keep Social Security solvent. While wealthy Americans benefitted from Reagan’s tax policies, blue-collar Americans paid a higher percentage of their income in taxes when Reagan left office than when he came in.

It isn’t hard at all to come up with a list of St. Ronnie’s moves that would make the current crop of WooWoo Bagger nutjobs and Con Wingnuts cringe. Yet, they still cling to their ‘Myth Reagan.’
Hmmm…Here’s a good start:
- Reagan was a serial tax raiser who raised taxes 7 out of his 8 years in office.
- Reagan nearly tripled the federal budget deficit.
- Unemployment soared and so did income inequality after Reagan’s 1981 disastrous tax cuts.
- Reagan grew the size of the federal government tremendously.
- Reagan did almost zero and gave only lip service to fight a woman’s right to choose.
- Reagan once called himself a “bellicose peacenik.” He wrote in his memoirs that his "…dream…became a world free of nuclear weapons.”
- Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million undocumented immigrants.
- Reagan illegally funneled weapons to Iran.
- Reagan vetoed a comprehensive anti-Apartheid act and argued that sanctions against South Africa’s horrid policies would do nothing.
- Reagan helped create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden.
And those are only the first ten things that come to mind that would curdle the blood of these depraved RepubliKKKlans and Baggerloons today IF they could face and handle the truth about their fictional hero, their Lord and Savior Ronnie Reagan.

The Cold War started roughly in 1946 long before Reagan was President and ended in 1991 after he had completely drifted off into La La Land!
So besides running up the deficit x’s 3, raising taxes, ignoring the AIDs epidemic, cutting and running in Beruit after the Marine Barracks bombing, having the most corrupt administration until Bush II came along etc, what did Reagan do?

Reagan was a nasty racist bigot. He launched his election campaign at the country fair where the KKK kidnapped the three civil rights workers they murdered. That wasn’t an accident, it was a dog whistle.
Playing the race card makes you a racist regardless of whether you believe in their crap or not. But Reagan was a believer, he left the Democrats because of the civil rights act.
And it goes without saying that the GOP is just as racist today only they know they can’t hate openly on blacks so they find ways to hate gays or Latinos instead.
