If it isn’t in the St. Petersburg handbook, don’t expect yorgi to ever understand it.
Yet, for now O’Rourke provided about the same amount of qualifications as Sanders did in 4 years.
Yes. I would.
If he wants to be known as an “Independent” he should run for President as such (even though he caucuses with the Democrats in the Senate.)
The ONLY reason he remains an “Independent” is if he ever actually JOINED the Democratic Party he would then never be re-elected in Vermont and he knows it.
So, we get this Kabuki Dance from him every election cycle with him touting what an “Independent” he is when really he is just a cynical wind-sock politician, never actually willing to “Put his money where his mouth is.” and has been for over 24 years.
Does that mean I reject his ideas? No.
Some of the things he SAYS he wants to change I am all for, but as they say in Texas: He is; “All Hat and No Cattle.”
I just don’t trust the man himself (and don’t get me started on his wife) because of the way he refuses to ever accept any criticism or questioning of his methods.
He seems to me to be much more interested in building a Cult of Personality than in building a political party.
Bernie is to me, the “Chris Matthews” of candidates, content to wag his finger in everybody’s faces and shout them down when they question or contradict him, and quickly change the subject when he is losing the argument.
Yep. Didn’t take him long to start sowing division. Again.
This seems to me hyperbolic. I have not heard a lot of concrete policy positions from him, but he speaks in something much more elevated than Palinesque word salad. (My hope would be that he doesn’t turn out to be another Edwards. That was a really tragic betrayal.)
Could care less what any of their policy proposals are, since there’s zero chance of implementing legislation unless the US Senate changes hands by roughly 13 votes. Or unless Bernie and his cronies start supporting filibuster elimination.
So if style with no substance gets the orange shitgibbon out of office, then I’m perfectly OK with it. Sure there are others who’ve put more thought into their policy positions–Warren, Booker–but neither can get elected due to the institutional sexism and racism baked into the electorate, If we end up with a young and enthusiasm generating president who can get Dem voters motivated to vote in midterms, then that’s the best choice for 2020.
“But what that means is if we are going to avoid getting outspent, it’s going to take lots and lots of people making individual donations to catch up,” it continues. “We already have that… but we have to pick up the pace.”
Very poor messaging from Bernie! He’s making the good news/bad news aspect of the campaign all about money instead of his message. I remember when he would have advocated the exact opposite approach.
There is no place for sickening ageism in the places we need to go
I don’t thnk I’ve picked a horse in this race, but a Beto-Sanders final was not what I was looking for.
Sniff, sniff, I cry for you…not.
Harris-Beto
what’s ageist about this?
That’s how old the man is. That’s a fact.
I see where you made your error.
Bernie does not have a positive message, and he never will have.
Good thing then that Moses didn’t insist that, if he couldn’t enter, then nobody could enter.
It isn’t ageist to object to a candidate who would spend most of his/her 1st term in his/her 80’s. It’s pragmatism. Same goes for Biden, and Bloomberg if he’d chosen to run.
Word.
Once again, our resident troll shows why he is the official TPM laughingstock.
I’m very sorry, but I cannot in my heart of hearts pardon that kind of language from you.
But I can sure as hell praise the fuck out of you for saying it!
Not everyone. I never knew my mom’s parents, and i only vaguely remember my dad’s mom. Those memories aren’t terribly fond, either. I absolutely hated the way she would pinch my cheek sooo fucking hard every time she’d see me.
If it wasn’t ageist, why did it need to be said?
Looks to me like Bernie is the one making it a quarrel between them. His supporters have been sulking and moaning and truthering the announcement on Twitter all day. They quickly settled on the narrative that his success must, must, I say, be the result of handful of rich people maxing out at $2700 (sublimely unaware that he may be trolling them the same way he did by sitting on the amount he raised), because one, and only one candidate is the True Champion of the Peepul who donate in 1-100 dollar increments. And now, in a fundraising email, the top of the campaign endorses and champions the Beto Donation Trutherism thing, playing him up as a threat rather than doing the classy thing and congratulating him.
All of the other Democratic candidates, declared and near declared, have been behaving themselves, being relatively nice to each other and talking about their own vision while repeatedly passing by opportunities handed to them by the press to take digs at one another. Only one candidate is playing the petulant brat card.
But never mind me. I’m obviously part of the Big Establishment Conshpirashy Againsht Poor Bernie, the one and only acceptable candidate in the whole world, as, indeed is anyone who publishes or says anything that isn’t fulsome, treacle praise of his awesomeness.
