Trump misjudged badly, and now it’s coming back to bite him squarely in the tuchas.
He has a couple of options here: One is to admit he screwed the pooch; another is to keep digging.
Of course, he’ll never, ever admit a mistake.
And his bootlickers will grovel shamelessly to stroke his diseased ego and clutch at crumbs of power.
But he cannot win this.
The damage to these children is incalculable.
The political damage to Trump and the GOP, heading into the midterms, will be brutal.

I think that throwing some things into the same basket sometimes has a tendency to ’ dilute ’ a more focused approach —
Yes …the GOP’s and NRA’s gun fetish needs be dealt with …
but right now, there are many R gun folks who are very upset with the Admin. over the separation issue …
and with the family’s …and the kids in mind …
I’m more than happy to not alienate them from the cause ----

You can’t let people like Sessions act like this is just something that is dumped on their plate out of nowhere and they are dealing with it as best they can, you have to shove in their face, their culpability in creating this problem.
When Republicans ask “why should America accept these refugees?” the answer should be, “because America is helping create them”.
The problem is seen in ThunderclapNewman’s comment above about how “the Dems won’t let this go”. Two months ago, following parkland we were saying the same about guns, and in another month a new outrage will surface that will require all the attention. Unless we start tying a few of these issues together we will never have the focus to change any of them.

I agree that things are connected and there is a big picture.
The more you demand, however, the more people you can alienate.
