Every Republican is on board with taking darker skinned children away from their darker skinned parents.
A shit-volcano erupted on Nov. 9, 2016 and never stopped. But Benghazi, email, lock her up. Consistent messaging is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes.
Unless Mr. Cummings raises the possibility of running, and I donāt think he is, it doesnāt matter what guessing games we play.
This is all theyāll listen to. Nothing like being left a little less powerful to make them pay attention to We The People. Iām not sure about resilience being a strength these little children will acquire. Theyāre being traumatized at a young age and have only their little selves to rely on. They may never be reunited with Mami or *Papi.*because theyāre being carelessly stored like so much inventory.
For the moment Iām putting my hopes on the slightly older children from Parkland FL as well as HS students from all over who donāt want gun violence to be the only sure thing in their future.
I didnāt realize until I saw reporting somewhere that Miller, whoās director of the project from Hell, worked on Sessions staff in the Senate. Heās crafted PPās message which Sessions has been pushing for years.
When the so-called Gang of Eight introduced a bipartisan immigration reform bill in 2013, Sessions played a key role in killing it; when the bill passed the Senate, his aide Miller literally wrote the 23-page handbook that House members were given on how to fight the deal.
Volcanos often vent gas before they erupt. Looks like we got a warning sign already three years in advance.
Terrifying children is sadism.
Shame on Republicans.
Our lying, fascist president is on TV speaking to the NFIB, āThe Voice of Small Businessā. The folks there, whoever they are, are cheering Trump. Would it be wrong for me to wish for a looong bout of laryngitis in lieu of something worse? When I hear the people cheering, I have serious doubts whether, as others continue to say, āAmericans are better than this.ā
I just watched it, and it made me cry. As upsetting as it is for all of us to be out here seeing horrible things being done in and to our country in our name, itās got to be even worse for the people in government like Rep. Cummings to have to be there and not have the power to stop it. And be expected to continue on with business as usual in dry, stupid, pointless hearings when the country is being torched all around you. Seeing him lose his cool, right there in the middle of the chamber, saying the things that we all feel about WTF is going on here, and saying it strongly and powerfully, is jarring and so valuable.
Of course the rest of the room just continued along as if nothing unusual is going on. Screw them all. But thank you Elijah Cummings, for continuing to speak out.
the first part of his statement was good stuff too, about the GOPās relentless attacks on Hillary. But the child detention statements start around 6 minutes in;
We have to be able to focus on two things at once. Pressing the case against family separation is necessary. So is pressing the case that the IG Hillary report emphasized and publicly excoriated a few agents expressing anti-Trump sentiment while not even pretending to look into potentially much more pervasive and influentialāin terms of influencing actions by the bureau, anti-Hillary sentiment.
So, is there a rule or something on exactly when and by whom these mythical āsecond amendment remediesā can be used in defense of our country?
Asking for a friendā¦
They will not be reunited, the 2000 plus separated already will just be added to the 1700 plus the administration has already ālostā. After all as stated a couple of weeks ago it is not their responsibility to keep track of children under their care.
Magister Frawley! Hello (or should I say salve!) fellow Regent.
Isnāt it Infrastructure Week?
āFoster care, whatever.ā Words that will live in infamy.
Salve!
Pulsam tabulam!
Exactly so. National Democrats arenāt complete idiots, they learned from the Hillary debacle that if you signal who your leader is too early, the Republicansā¢ļø get to define that person.
Rather be accused of being āleaderlessā than give away the āadvantage of surpriseā. Expect them to wait it out as long as possible, probably by giving Republicansā¢ļø an orgy of possible targets to attack early, then very quickly and bloodlessly unanimously endorsing one late, maybe even on the convention floor.
If they are smart, they will do all they can to foster āgoodā drama, to compete with the Apprentice: White Houseā¢ļø on the other side.
But what do I knowā¦
When I was 5 my mother was involuntarily committed. My 2 sisters and I were āplacedā (gotta love that word) in an orphanage (never got a satisfactory answer from my father about this, he claimed the state would not let him keep us) for I think 6 months. Itās one of my earliest memories (trauma sucks that way) that was a memory triggered by the tape of that kid crying for his father. I still canāt keep it together when listening to it. I had actually forgotten all about this time. It began what was an entire childhood as a ward of the stateā¦
But yes, one CAN recover. It marks you for life, in many things, but Iām meager proof that you can begin that way and eventually raise two very fine and educated humans, as well balanced and stable as you were broken, if you work at it. And have a LOT of support, and luck!
Iām also a living example of the fact that NO ONE, certainly no child, should ever be subjected to that. I was white, and my family had support from family, they were not fleeing peril or leaving their country, and even I was broken in some ways that never healed, never will. I thank everything every day that my kids didnāt suffer what I did, but seeing this brings all of my early beginning back, and itās personally devastating, but makes my blood boil!
@massie, you are right. God bless Elijah Cummings for doing just that, exposing the hearings for the sham that they are. Thatās why Democrats have to take back Congress and why we have to work to get people to register and vote.
.
Same here.

Iām so glad you are here to tell the tale!
As for these abused children, letās do what we can for them, and then do more.
