By a weird coincidence, I happened to pass by WaPo when he was speaking and saw him on the banner at the top, so I listened in. It was at the very end, but, man, that guy is effective. And his choking up on his last few words made me choke up.

I love Elijah Cummings and the entire black caucus. I continue to think they are the real heart and soul of Congress if not the country. So many fought the Civil Rights battles.

He is my Rep and I would prefer he stay in the House, possibly as Speaker. He is not the right fit for the White House and can be far more effective in the House or Senate. We need voices like his in one of those chambers.

He would be great, but we desperately need his leadership in Congress. He’ll be an moral, ethical and strong head of congressional oversight. He knows how things work. He knows the players and he knows how to be effective.
