Part time you ask? Well, the 144th Congress has scheduled 133 days in session during which time they vote on legislation. Iām not sure what they do the other 127 weekdays available during the year. And they have the entire month of August off as well as most of October. Rather generous vacation Iād say. I worked far longer hours for less than 1/3rd their salary.

My high school in Tulsa was named after the humorist and yes, Will Rogers, would definitely not be in sync with these Tea Party know-nothings. He would have relished satirizing the idiots that The People from red states have, in their wisdom and persipicuity, elected to Congress, starting with his home state, Oklahoma.
PS I left OK for good after graduating from high school.

I think the difference between now and the shut down in 2011 was folks werenāt sure about the ACA after its rocky roll out. This time the fringe are hell bent after a very popular organization and thatās not a viable tactic. People are gonna remember this time come the election. The irrational illogic of republicans is on full display for all to see. The House, if they were doing their jobs and operating like adults, should have been able to pass a budget in June or July. But no, they are spoiled irrational children in need of a spanking. Is it any wonder that the approval rating of Congress is around 15%?

The only agreeable thing in there is that this should have been a major issue along with others much earlier. I do not see why everything needs to be by the skin of our teeth. The novel concept of a budget would actually avoid all of this. But the GOP has killed that idea. I even think Obama would have loved to compromised with them but they had to go too far.

I still remember from Civics class how a bill becomes a law when the House, the Senate, and the President all approve it, and then it gets crammed down the throats of the voters.
