Um, not to mention Spain.
I use Repubes myself.
And I guess Russia gets Alaska.
You think they would take Florida back after what we did to it? Canât give that shit away now.
Nation to GOP, go pound some sand from White Sands National Monument up your ass.
Only if the Russians take Caribou Barbie with itâŚ
Nice thought, no?
Itâs official: We can call the Republican Party the Cliven Bundy Party, and its platfrom the Bundy Platform.
Remember when it was Republicans like Abe Lincoln and Ulysses Grant who set aside lands like Yosemite and Yellowstone for conservation?
Remember when it was a Republican like Teddy Roosevelt who, according to <a href+âPresidency of Theodore Roosevelt - Wikipediaâ>Wikipedia, established the United States Forest Service, signed into law the creation of five National Parks, and signed the 1906 Antiquities Act, under which he proclaimed 18 new U.S. National Monuments. He also established the first 51 Bird Reserves, four Game Preserves, and 150 National Forests, including Shoshone National Forest, the nationâs first. The area of the United States that he placed under public protection totals approximately 230,000,000 acres (930,000 km2)?
Because the Republicans sure donât.
Funny how the wheel turns, how the GOP has done a 180 on this issue, as on so many others.
You know, if the Democratic Party is smart they will campaign against the Republicans as the POK (Party of Kooks) I mean, never mind their candidate, take a look at some of the shit in their platform. Seriously. This crap is REALLY in there.
1. Protecting against magnetic pulse attacks
The movie âRed Dawnâ has a special place in the hearts of Teabaggers. In the first one, which starred the deceased Patrick Swayze, the âunorganized militiaâ of the 90s was warning about the Russians and the Nicaraguans invading us and taking our guns. Now that the second one has come out with a crucial plot point that North Korea immobilizes the country with an EMP, Teabaggers demand in the POK platform that the nationâs power grids be shielded (which they wonât pay for) from this danger.
2. The Bible is American History:
Never mind the fact that nobody really knows who wrote it, or that all we have are copies of copies of copies, or that the Western Hemisphere had not even been discovered yet. Teabaggers insist that The Bible be regarded as an American History textbook
3. Undermining child abuse laws:
Teabaggers firmly believe that they could eat their Mashed Potato Sandwiches on white bread in public, untroubled by misbehaving kids, if parents were just allowed to beat the shit out of them in public again, just like in the good olâ days.
4. Porn is a public health crisis:
Great. Weâre going back to THESE days:
5. LGBT people are still the enemy.
You should see how Teabaggers went crazy when gay marriage was legalized. I suspect it was similar to how Southerners reacted after Brown V. Board of Education. They were so butthurt youâd think theyâd have to get gay married tomorrow. Never mind that more than two-thirds of Americans are ho-hum about gay marriage, or transexuality but the Teabaggers are still supporting bathroom bills, which are proving to be financially ruinous and promising legislation that will forbid gay adoption.
6. Learn English and build a wall:
Teabaggers love to boast how inclusive and loving they are. But at the same time they demand you learn English and want to build a wall to keep everyone but white people out.
7. Early childhood education is not an American value.
Probably the most mystifying and dangerous of the planks. Even though early childhood education works, Teabaggers want to scrap it because they are terrified of losing control over their children.
Thereâs more over on Raw Story.
Like I said - the platform is where they get to express their most insanely evil wishes, dreams and hopes about this country they refer to as Amurka.
Donât forget getting rid of child labor laws too. Let them go back to working in the mines or factories. Put those little fingers to work. They were always good for something. Wasnât it Maineâs governor that wanted to see those laws rescinded? Good heavens.
I think you are right; it was that bullfrog LePage but for some reason Bronwback comes to mind.
Many affiliated with that takeover had argued the federal government had no business managing federal lands.
I would argue that states that want to get land but donât have the resources and/or ability to maintain the land or fight wildfires have no business being states. Also, the new platform should make it clear that these states will no longer ask for federal money to assist with anything other than federal programs.
More like posse comatosis.
Also proving once again that the Modern GOP is nothing more than a collection of fringe interest groups trying to impose their will on the majority of Americans who do not agree with them on their single issue agendas.
Interesting comments but I would note the more fervent wingnuts (including several of our state reps here in Montana) want all federal land to include parks, and Indian reservations turned over to the states. The movement is not popular in this state and a bill similar to the Utah law died in committee. What is absurd is the states do not have the financial resources for forest fire prevention/fire fighting. Enormous amounts of federal money are spent in the west every year (and getting worse with climate change) for fire suppression.
I would also add the surrender of federal lands to the states is vigorously and loudly opposed by high profile sportsmen groups.
Or the middle east
Theyâre all alikeâŚvirtual clones of one another.
