Discussion: GOP Platform Committee Wants Feds To Turn Fed Lands Over To States ASAP

And then the next thing that could happen is the Red State that has the national park would promptly sell it off to pay off their debts.

They’ll (the Western states) love it until they have to pay the upkeep. Then they will be sad puppies.

Return the land? Most of the land has been under Federal control since these states were territories.

Only a small portion is by Pepsi, the lodge and campgrounds for sure.

But the rest will be sold off/cordoned off, for the mineral rights.

“Many . . . argued the federal government had no business managing federal lands.”

This argument makes as much sense as arguing that private individuals have no business managing private property.

Hey Bozos, federal lands belong to all of us! They are our legacy and our insurance that there will still be some open space and habitats for generations to come. Turn them over to the states and many of the bozo states will sell them off for industrial development. I’m sure that Trump would love to build some more casinos in Yellowstone, Yosemite, around Crater Lake, etc.

These cretinous sociopaths hate and despise everything Theodore Roosevelt stood for. They are filled with rage that there is any land in the United States that is not open to rapine exploitation by extraction interests, and complete “recreational” destruction by Mormon and Christian Dominionist thugs in ORVs.

Fuck each and every one of them.

Let’s see, how can I put this so the gop/bags jerks will understand?

OH HELL NO!!

Leave OUR federal lands alone! You don’t get to mine them, or pollute them, or ruined them, or give them away to your corporate sponsors!

The horrible experimenting with privatization in Yosemite is enough to turn your stomach.

Fuck them and all of the 4x4s and ATVs they rode in on.

If they were just riding horses, it wouldn’t be so bad.

Goddammit, I’m so mad that my ancestors (who came to this country legally, mind you) didn’t have the foresight and the means to buy up all that land and own it themselves. I’m so mad that my ancestors didn’t take away everything* from those Indians, who had All The Best Prime Real Estate. I’m so mad that I wasn’t raised in the lap of luxury like those Rockefellers (who owned all those coal and iron mines) and the other swells who made it big in this land of opportunity. And I am so pissed, because those national parks and national lands are a disgrace, they show how weak we are in America. And I want to make America Great Again by TAKING IT ALL. TAKING EVERY BIT OF IT.

So, do I have it right? Is that the kind of attitude driving it all?

*oh, wait…

You it’s kinda interesting (well at least to me). When the freeloaders and aholes occupied the Malheur Wildlife Refuge, they made an assumption that “everyone” would cheer them on. After all, they were the true Americans (ala Joe Walsh) who were taking back their land. A sort of RED DAWN without the Russians.

Not “our” land as in all Americans, their land. And they were very confused when a majority of true Americans didn’t stand up for them. Just sent them a bag of dicks.

So the GOP is making it very clear that they want Federal lands turned over to Republicans only. No one else qualifies.

A million monkeys randomly typing on a million keyboards will eventually write a sane Republican platform.

Until then, it’s just GOP poo-flinging.

Don’t any of these “posse comitatus” ignoramuses know any history?
STATES only exist by the edict of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT which CREATED THEM.
Before that they were either FEDERAL TERRITORIES or FOREIGN PROPERTY (original 13 COLONIES) taken as spoils of WAR or by direct purchase BY the Federal Government (thus being FEDERAL PROPERTY.)
The Entire “Louisiana Purchase” was obtained this way, Texas was a Sovereign Nation that SOLD ITSELF to the US to become a state, and Alaska was a foreign purchase also.
Hawaii was a conquered nation, as was Puerto Rico, and Guam, and The Solomons, and California/New Mexico, Arizona, etc.
fools.

Eh, I think the Big Crunch, or the Big Rip, or the Big Freeze, or the Big Bounce are all more likely to occur first.

You would think that Republicans would remember from the history books the wars that we won and acquired the spoils of foreign nations. I thought that this is what they dream of.
