Discussion: Giuliani: Trump Can 'Probably' Pardon Himself, Has No 'Intention' To Do So

“Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.”

Gaius Twitterus Maximus just Twatted:

As only one of two people left who could become President, why wouldn’t the FBI or Department of “Justice” have told me that they were secretly investigating Paul Manafort (on charges that were 10 years old and had been previously dropped) during my campaign? Should have told me!

John Gotti: Why didn’t the FBI tell me they were investigating my lieutenants?!!!

Rudy is the star of the new series, Babble-On One.

I was unaware there were images of him without his mouth wide open …

Must of been a lucky shot … hard to get ----

In the real world, 9-0 would make total sense. But I wouldn’t put it past Alito, silent Clarence and, of course, Rump’s house pet Gorsuch to align themselves with Ghouliani. IMO, they are irredeemable and will go down in history as such.

Somebody at the White House really should make a run to CVS and pick up a box of Feen-A-Mint for Rudy.

Not just investigating, which is wrong in itself, but secretly investigating, because they were ashamed of how wrongly they were acting.

They’ve said yup to some pretty foul stuff, but this would make them laughingstocks and pariahs in the legal world for the rest of their lives. What can Trump do? Offer them a promotion?

I agree about their uh…fecklessness, but If they rule that way, then they are taking the SC out of the loop. I can’t see them voting to reduce their own power.

Our recollection keeps changing, or we’re not even asked a question and somebody makes an assumption.

Hi, my name is Rudy. I am a member of the New York State Bar. I would like to point out that, according to our Constitution, our entire legal system is null and void because, I mean, who can remember stuff?

It would be fun, though, to watch the kinds of legal pretzels these three judicial miscreants would twist themselves into in order to support their arguments. I can feel the heat of RBG stinkeye heading towards the trio already.

Giuliani this morning acted like a manic person desperately trying to fake normality (or a desperate person manically trying to fake normality), and succeeded somewhat, but not completely, which shatters the illusion.

Alito will rule that Trump, Inc. can pardon Trumpp. Thomas will tell us that the authors of the Constitution necessarily gave the President the power to prevent a high-tech lynching. Gorsuch will inform us that lesser minds than his have argued against the President having the power to self-pardon, and they were all wrong.

If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.

I have heard from people on this site saying that, “Oh, you can say a lot of things about Trump but, believe me and beware, the man isn’t stupid.”
Oh, yeah? Why would anyone but a stupid motherfucker send out Rudy Giuliandrews to defend your case by spouting legal gibberish on national TV?

So, Trump has just proclaimed himself Supreme Leader.

The only recourse is impeachment.

And the question is whether the Republicans believe in a government by law or not. It is that simple.

Impeachment was designed specifically for situations like this, for presidents like this.

I’m pretty worried.

I think you may be confusing “utterly corrupt” and “desperate” with “stupid.” (But we can probably agree that many of the things he does are pretty stupid.) A big part of Trump’s current difficulties is that he is basically doing now things that he has gotten away with in his private business for years — now, it is just on a much larger scale and at least some people are watching.

Ghouliani’s “argument” has gone from they didn’t do it to yeah, they did it, so what? The office of the Presidency has a built in get-out-of-jail card.

I honestly don’t see those three getting religion at this point and siding with reality. Quite the contrary, I see them digging in their heels so that when the NEXT Rethug gets into the WH, it’ll be there waiting for him.

EDIT TO ADD:

And the question is whether the Republicans believe in a government by law or not. It is that simple.

@voreason I think that question was answered, at least, since 2016 if not longer before. They don’t believe in it and are willing to see this country burn. Just doesn’t bother them at all.

More like the rest of forever. People are still talking about how bad a decision Dred Scott was. This would be more like Marbury v. Madison, except in reverse.

Is it just me, or is there a Fuhrerbunker mentality forming in the Oval Office?
