Discussion: Frustrated Democrats Stonewalled During Hicks Testimony By DOJ Lawyer

Take her posh ass to court – forthwith.

And goddammit, get that formal impeachment inquiry underway – STAT!

Begins with “F” and ends with “ormal Impeachment Inquiry”

Only way to put teeth into any subpoena the house issues.

Skeptical is spot-on. This reflects worse on the impotent Dems than on anyone else. Shame! (The next step down from Sad!)

Not televising it did what? There are a couple of posters on TPM I choose to ignore. You are one of them. Thank you for understanding.

Perhaps Democrats will now stop taking-a-meeting-to-formulate-a-survey-to-pose-a question on taking Trump flunkies to court.

This was all part of the “education” program that the Democrats are conducting for the public over the summer. What did we all learn today, Boys and Girls?

Still not understanding what Begins with “F” and ends with “ormal Impeachmeny Inquiry” would do to force testimony from a regime that’s already told the country to go pound sand.

Its not the majority of Americans. I believe that’s a fallacy. Americans may not want to see him impeached at this point but they don’t believe a word he says and feels he’s probably committed crimes while in office. That has got to be a problem and can never be normalized by anyone.

"Questioning her is not allowed "? How about slandering her is not allowed. The Dems have a strategy and you don’t agree with it, I do.

Once you start an impeachment inquiry, it takes on a life of it’s own. And may go in directions you didn’t expect. DC is wired for Republicans, Dems are fighting an uphill battle.

How are you helping? /s

Ho hum…
I guess I’ll tune to Maddow for the transcript reading.
How embarrassing for Dems… How utterly embarrassing.

You go to court to enforce a subpoena to compel Hicks to testify. WH intervenes as an interested party. Court strikes down this absolute immunity bs. Executive privilege gets raised, but on that I don’t know if they can raise it in court b/c it doesn’t appear they raised it in the hearing. Still I’d like to see the exec privilege claim get litigated b/c I don’t think Trump has a valid claim here with respect to the information she has already given to Mueller. Hicks will be put in jail if she refuses court order to testify.

I do not for the life of me understand why after about 5 minutes of stonewalling, the chairman simply didn’t call on the House Sergeant at Arms to escort the DOJ lawyer out of the room, by force if necessary, but by all means. Then, they could ask Hicks which should she prefer: a contempt citation or a grant of immunity?

This is parliamentary tactics 101.

I agree about taking this to court because yes, the executive privilege is insane. But what is being brought up by some posters here is that hearings should be televised and that’s what will - do something.

“Once you start an impeachment inquiry…”

That’s the problem; they haven’t started an impeachment inquiry.

Actually, it would have helped to have the public witness the total stonewall.
