Kennedy never held himself out as a socialist / populist. He always acknowledged his privileged upbringing as a scion of a politically powerful family.
Sanders has always screamed about the wealth gap and the excesses of the wealthy – and yet seems to have made out pretty well for never having a private sector job. How many of his supporters have or can afford summer homes?

Tough room. Haters gonna hate. But here I go -
Suppose it goes down this way: Bernie goes on and for 90 minutes proceeds to shred Trump’s record on economic issues of interest to the audience. There is a plethora of low-hanging fruit.
There are the bullshit Carrier promises.
There are the mindless tariffs that have caused problems throughout Trump’s base areas in both agriculture and industry.
How about infrastructure? WHAT INFRASTRUCTURE, and oh, by the way, whatever was in Trump’s “plan” other than privatizing government infrastructure and giving it to cronies?
How about the coal industry which has shed jobs under Trump just as under previous administrations because it is, in fact, a dying industry, and is it really wise to make fun of the Green New Deal and wind energy, when there are more jobs here than the coal industry, jobs that miners might be fairly easily trained for?
Suppose he goes beyond this, and talks about how Trump’s hateful rhetoric and actions are eroding the US’ standing throughout the world? Suppose he ridicule’s Trump’s conduct of foreign policy, cozying up to the likes of Kim and Duterte?
I think he could fill 90 minutes with this, and it might even reach a few people. This is not 2016, when Trump didn’t yet have a record. He has a LONG record to be held accountable for.
Seems to me that THAT kind of performance might redound to the benefit of whatever Democrat ultimately wins the nomination.
Or, should such talk only be allowed on MSNBC?

Well, it’s not a speech, it’s a Town Hall format where he presumably won’t have control over the topics. He can try to steer each answer to his talking points, but he may just end up spending most of his time defending his policy proposals and trying to explain why Socialism isn’t scary.

Additionally the Kennedy family regardless of a few personal foibles have taken public service seriously. Basically a sense of noblesse oblige. Most have completed military service and or the Peace Corp. Others like JFK jr and Joe 3rd worked as assistant district attorneys when you know they could have had a prime position in a white shoe law firm.

Yes the Kennedys were one of the last wealthy families who believed in noblesse oblige it seems. They understood that they got rich because America let them and helped them get rich.
Now wealthy people think they did it all themselves.

No matter what one thinks of Fox they have large audience. So it was a stupid idea for Democrats to not want to reach out to that audience.It won’t hurt them to hear a contrary opinion that is not in the normal Fox bubble. Bernie is right to bring his platform to all audiences. That is how to win elections.

if you think Bernie can sway even a single Fox viewer you’re mistaken. The Fox moderators and their “plants” in the town hall audience will ask nothing about Trump. They’re only interested in getting Bernie riled up about the Democrats. And Bernie’s ego will oblige.
