Discussion: Federal Judges Find Texas GOP Gerrymandered Maps On Racial Lines

It will be. But we still have to determine if we are the Texans or the Mexicans in that battle.

Not a surprise to anyone in Texas. Our Repub legislature, under the direction of Tom Delay when he was in the House, managed to give new meaning to the word gerrymander.

O for christ’s sake

You don’t know that.

We are going to turn this state blue. It wants to so bad.

And guess whose name comes up on that chart of 61 connections between Trump and Putin? Tom Delay’s.

When there are ever any rulings favoring Republicans, you might have a point. So far, the Federal Judiciary is the only brake on that man’s powers.

Delay? The little bug man? Should have known.

Yep. Along with Abramoff.

There is a connection.

It sure does.

What needs to happen is citizens need to organize, get motivated, and go to the polls and elect progressive Democrats determined to protect the rights of minorities and oppressed people. That’s how a democracy works. Take for example North Carolina. Voters tossed out a Republican Governor, chiefly due to his discriminatory stance against transgender persons and others in the LGBT community. That and the lost business revenue and scorn those policies brought. And guess what, electing that Democrat resulted in a muting of the hate and bigotry, and restored transgender rights. Voting worked.

Oh, wait…

For the moment, at least. I’m sure Trumpollini and the ReTHUGlicans are working on “fixing” that, too.

This is when the wisdom of lifetime appointments for the federal judiciary becomes clear. Federal judges are beholden to no one.

Yep. I lived in McCaul’s district. From MoPac to the Houston Suburbs. Was nuts.

My in laws lived a few miles away and their district went down to the valley (Brownsville). There was another district next to it that did likewise. Just mean spirited and very un-Texan to treat your neighbors so badly, I say.

I’m so happy about this I don’t even care about double points.

This map has a sordid history. When DeLay gave it to our Speaker to ram through the lege, 7 Texas Democrats got on a private plane and went into hiding to try to keep this map from being passed.

Tom Delay sent the Dept. of Homeland Security after them. This map was rammed right down our throats and I’ve waited a long damn time for this day right here.
