I can’t say, because it might be over soon.
Exactly, in the age of Trump, what would that political damage be? It seems to me far more damage would be inflicted if every Democratic candidate had to fear having his or her college past scrutinized for every possible slight.
I hope so. His resignation would solve a lot of problems at least until the next politician is sacrificed by the mob.
I think that Democratic party is doing itself disservice by not standing firm. It makes it easier for opposition to create stunts to undermine elected Democrats.
Uh . . . . NO.
They’re already trying to do so.
Keep dragging your heels Ralph. Hang in there!
It’s considered to be racist, but I wouldn’t put it in the category of something that can’t be forgiven, particularly since it happened so long ago.
Re-posting what I said above:
Even if you ignore everything else, you can’t possibly ignore the political damage he’ll bring to the party by staying.
In a perfect would, someone whole career would be paramount. Politics and perceptions, much as you might wish it to not be so, rule the day though. Those are simply the realities of this world.
You can state that it’s not right all you want. You can’t ignore the politics though. It’s the lens through which me measure an event. It might be terribly distasteful, but we can’t change it.
Like the old Whig Party, a party that didn’t have a problem with slavery.

Why do you bring Trump into it? He only matters if you assume that the Democratic and the Republican parties have the same standards by which we measures their candidates.
If someone else in the Democratic party knows they appeared in blackface with someone in a KKK costume and went by the moniker of ‘Coonman’ I wound imagine that they would be somewhat worried. I doubt there is more, but there could be. If so, and it comes out, I would expect the same reaction from the party and the public.
Do you actually read the replies to your comments?
Republicans were quite successful with this tack. However, let me point out that in my estimation pulling clothing off the young girl is much worse offense than black face dress up for the private party. And in case of Kavanaugh there was plenty of ammunition from his inappropriate contribution to Starr report to numerous rulings on the bench. However with Republican seniority in Senate, Kavanough was a shoo in for the SC.
PLEASE, for the love of Dog—
Put down that shovel !!!
Not going to happen, I fear. Something must be wrong with me today, I haven’t said, ‘fuck’ in near on three hours.
C’mon kiddo! fuck up!
Does my previous post qualify? Nope, still not feelin’ it. I guess I have no fucks left to give today.
What a terribly narrow minded view. In a mad scramble to gain the mythical moral high ground (which by the way, no Republican cares about unless it’s targeted towards a Democrat), we are throwing away all nuance and reason. There is a difference between costume choices that in today’s zeitgeist are taboo vs actual racist actions and attitudes (such as premeditated persecution and disenfranchisement). This whole kerfuffle is akin to chopping off your hand to cure a hang nail. It can be resolved in a much more pointed and meaningful way.
Sure, but a good friend would listen to us when we’re almost all uniformly telling him. “You’re drunk, it’s time to go home.”
You do have some comprehension of the nature of politics and public perceptions? The large host of elected Democrats, State and National, calling for him to resign certainly do.
