Discussion: Clinton Wins Big In S.C., Adding To Her Momentum Going Into Super Tuesday

Obama won twice by being unrelentingly positive in very dark days. Justin Trudeau got a landslide by being unrelentingly positive. That is how you win, not by saying everything sucks and everyone except you is an idiot. The general election is on as of tonight and Hillary got off on the right foot for sure.

I don’t even want to think about it - you are a brave soul.

Love and kindness: those who’ve bought into the caricature may be surprised to learn that it’s been a theme of hers throughout her life. My fking tablet won’t let me copy/paste right now, but google “Hillary Clinton Wants to Talk to You About Love and Kindness” for a Buzzfeed profile about that very thing. If you’ve been politically sentient long enough, you may remember some of the Hillary-history it covers; a great piece.

Three posts, and this one just a copy-paste of the second one. I wouldn’t assume they’re actually a Bernie supporter any more than I would assume that moron who claims to be a Hillary supporter but says they’d support Bloomberg or Trump over Bernie is really a Hillary supporter. Not saying they both aren’t what they say they are, but I definitely wouldn’t assume it to be so.

Agreed. That’s why I “air quoted” calling them a “Sanders supporter”.

It’s looking like it will be a 50 point win. Around 75% Hillary, 25% Bernie.

That’s a LOT larger than expected. Goes in the category of “really severe trouncing”.

Since you’re copying and pasting, so will I:

Go ahead and sign the stupid petition if you want (though I doubt it will have any positive effect), but if it really does come down to Clinton vs. Trump, and you really do refuse to vote for Hillary, then there is no escaping from the fact that you will be helping to deliver the Presidency of the United States of America to Donald Fucking Trump, with potentially devastating consequences for many, many innocent people. If that is too hard for you to understand, or you just don’t care, then you are a lost cause. I say all this as a strong Bernie supporter.

Democrats support the Democratic nominee, wtf are you?

Agreed. Like I said upthread in Congressional Record fashion… I wish to revise and extend my remarks.

This is likely to shake out to around a 45 point win (it is currently a 47.8 point win with 79% reporting).

I don’t understand this rationale. If you and others fail to support Clinton, should she win, you will be doing nothing but helping to cripple her campaign to win the White House. Do you not realize how very important it is–now, more than ever–that a Democrat be in the White House, so the Democrats are the ones who nominate judges (SCOTUS???) and fill cabinet positions – the nuts and bolts of how our government works for the people!

Seriously, consider all the ramifications before you make these sorts of oaths and promises to each other. Allowing a Republican of today’s ilk win the White House and down-ticket races like the Senate all because you don’t like Hillary is very shortsighted. My mother would call that a temper tantrum. I tend to agree.

I plan to support whoever wins the Democratic nomination. I pledge that right here: I will send that candidate money, as will I send the DSC to help win back the Senate, and I will vote a straight-line Democratic Party ballot. Will you?

Dude, do you get paid for this? I just saw this exact same post in WaPo. Here it is, actually:

If you support Bernie Sanders and you won’t support Hillary Clinton then let the DNC know that by signing and sharing the petition below. This petition doesn’t necessarily mean you will not to vote for Hillary if she is the eventual nominee, but that she will not have your personal support in a general election, such as donations and personal advocacy. Better to let the DNC know now before the race is decided. Hillary is universally unpopular amongst voters 18-29 and independents, two demographics democrats need to win a general election, in addition she has an over 50% disapproval rating. Meanwhile Republicans are have broken records for participation in all of the first nominating contests. If Hillary and Trump win their perspective nominations then Trump could not only become our next president but he could also obtain super majorities in the house and the senate.

-the link was here, but I deleted it because this is trolling-

It’s blatantly ridiculous on its face. An “open” petition to try to force a political party (to which you may or may not belong to) to pick your candidate even if he loses the Primary.

Either you’re a Paid GOP Troll, or you’re a very, very (did I mention very?) pathetic Bernie supporter. “You either do what I tell you or I’m holding my breath until I faint and it’ll be your fault!!!” will probably work better.

This is a back breaker for Sanders and a huge pump up for Hillary. It isn’t over but I hear a familiar voice of a certain rotund lady warming up.

8 more years!

Big night for Hillary Clinton. That margin is astonishing. I hadn’t realized so many states are now participating in Super Tuesday, and it’s quite a diverse group of big, small, southern, western, northeastern–and Texas. It’s a sign of how impossibly lame our Presidential primary ritual has become that I can only muster basic guesses as to the strength of Sanders and Clinton in these states, whereas Iowa and New Hampshire were as unrepresentative as they were over-reported.

FiveThirtyEight has some good numbers crunching and breakdown on under/over performing in the primary states needed to secure the nomination. Worth looking at IMHO.

Colorado could go Bernie. The polling is a bit sparse…there was 1 in November that had Hillary up huge, and one pretty questionable one more recently that had Sanders squeaking ahead. Basically, nobody knows.

And its largely going to get swept away by everything else that is happening that day, though I will be interested to see the Hispanic numbers in particular. It is however a caucus, which makes reading data a bit more difficult.

Higher. Exit polling is showing her winning by 49 points now.

Its a huge win for Hillary, and paints a very bleak picture for Bernie on Tuesday. He not only can’t be losing (and certainly not be these margins), but he has to be winning by significant percentages himself to stay competitive. He isn’t.

WaPo has 47.8 for Clinton still only now with 83.5% reporting.

HRC got 73.6%, Sanders 25.8% at 8:53 ETand 85% reporting.
