Discussion: Clinton Wins Big In S.C., Adding To Her Momentum Going Into Super Tuesday

Troll harder.

They do. Clinton does as well. The problem I see is that a good portion of Sanders supporters have convinced themselves that no matter what, Clinton and “the establishment” are the enemy. Even when there is 90%+ overlap in positions between Sanders and Clinton, and that she was ranked the 11th most liberal Senator when she served in the Senate and a stalwart supporter of President Obama serving as one of the most crucial cabinet positions there is.

To put is in simpler terms that even when Sanders will not be the nominee (which seems likely) wake up to the fact that Clinton and the Democratic party are representing and take “yes” for an answer to what most of what Sanders positions are?

Not sure whether I should be annoyed by that particular troll’s choice of pseudonym. Maybe I shouldn’t be…perhaps attempted identity-jacking is the sincerest form of troll flattery?

Edit: Also, is it just me, or does that troll’s name and avatar appear lighter colored than everyone else’s? I wonder what is up with that?

No kidding. Back in the dark days when I was a TPM mod, and we had massive troll swarms from RedState and elsewhere, there was a pair of trolls who made a constant stream of fake TPM accounts that would have an extra space or a period at the end, ape the avatar even, and post foul shit as others. I even had two attempts made at my account back then.

Kind if twisted form of flattery in some respects.

And yes, the screen name is lighter in that one. Might be part of the “new user” status and “trust” level in the TPM system. Not 100% up to speed on the various criterion for different levels after they shifted to their new system a few years back.

I’ve noticed the color thing, too. Maybe it’s a way to tell if an account is brand new or has very little comment history?

Hillary’s speech hit just the right tone. She is going to be facing possibly the most negative, destructive person who has ever won a major party nomination, and the way to not just beat him, but crush him is to be relentlessly positive.

You should not tease us like that.

Edit: You should really consider changing your avatar.

When I was a regular at Eschaton, starting in ‘03, that was one of the trolls’ favorites - to assume a regular’s identity and it got really bad at times - nobody knew who was who and they would post the most amazing stuff under assumed identities. I opened my email one morning to find 25 emails from other Eschatonians worried because “I” had said I had cancer the night before.

The entire commenting world was completely unfiltered then.

“We don’t need to make America great again. America has never stopped being great,” Clinton said, giving a nod to Trump’s campaign slogan.

“But we do need to make America whole again. Instead of building walls, we need to be tearing down barriers,” she continued.

The former secretary of state called for “more love and kindness in our hearts and more respect for each other, even when we disagree.” (Hillary Clinton)

Very well spoken.

O I could not agree more.

Go Hillary! Crush them!

Bless you for your reference to Frances Perkins, the too-little-known official who more than anyone else was responsible for what we think of as both the New Deal and FDR himself. And yes, this Clinton supporter has all along imagined a Clinton presidency where she knows there’s pressure, and support, for her to be as aggressively progressive as practically possible, with Senators Sanders, Warren, Brown and more pushing from the inside, and us pushing – our reps and senators every bit as much as her – from the outside.

As you suggest, FDR is a perfect model, IMHO more fitting for a Clinton presidency than most realize. I’ve noted before around here that the FDR of “I welcome their hatred,” the populist hero, was running for his second term; in 1932 he ran on Hoover’s incompetence and things like, no kidding, balancing the budget. But once in office, a desperate citizenry and people like the great Frances Perkins led a president who was temperamentally more conservative but fundamentally sympathetic to become the leader we needed. I genuinely see much the same potential with Hillary.

I see the person joined a week ago, and have only posted two comments.

Could be a coincidence that they chose that name. Guess I’ll ignore it for now…

Excellent post, arrrrrj!

I think the light colors indicate newbies…?

Heh. I remember a few years ago when not only were some right wing trolls (or maybe it was just one) hijacking avatars, they’d post some of the most obscene pictures available. Some of it was really repulsive.

My family and I are for Hillary, so that’s 3 maybe 4 : )

Back when I was a mod, I spent nearly 4 hours a day deleting and blocking troll made accounts and IP addresses with the meager disquss tools we had, which would flood by the hundreds per/hour when RedState or FreeRepublic would link to a TPM article.

(shudder)

Yay. A dumbfuck “Sanders supporter” too stupid for words who literally joined TPM yesterday.

Troll harder next time.
