Discussion: Clinton Comes Out Five Points Ahead In Quinnipiac National Poll

I just want to get to the debate. I don’t think Trump is capable of pulling a Debate# 1 Romney, and I imagine Clinton’s been using some of this down time to do a little debate prep, so I suspect she’ll nail it. A strong debate and this thing is over.

Should she win, will you stop? Bernie Sanders is the worst thing to have ever happened to the Democratic Party.

Change the names and you’d get exactly what the PUMAs were saying.

Yes, plucky, HRC supporters are far more rational, mature and intelligent than Sanders supporters.

That’s why an HRC supporter such as yourself engages in dickish put-downs of fellow Democrats in the midst of a tight election against an insane candidate. Because you are rational, mature, and intelligent.

Got it.

The only way Trump can win is if millions of 2012 Obama voters sit home or vote for Trump.

It’s also possible that millions of non-smoking, teetotaling, celibate vegan triathletes will suddenly take up cigars, everclear, crack, McDonald’s, and barebacking with meth addict hookers.

I’m skeptical, but we do live in an idiocracy now so I guess anything is plausible.

One percent of voters are so shallow that they will vote for Johnson for weed, drugs, whatever.

Ten % of voters will vote for Trump because of being whte and hating that black guy with the funny name who supports Hillary… a woman who is not Angelina Jolie or any other fantasy bedtime woman… another 10% will vote for Trump because they don’t have a clue what a president can and cannot do and have wet dreams that all their problems, bankruptcies, arrest warrants, assault convictions on former wives, and girlfriends, and gay people, and assaults on black and Latinos will be forgiven since they are white, have a high school diploma, and “DESERVE” unemployment since that last bastard boss laid them off 3 months ago.

Then there are the 20% of Americans who are just plain stupid, or Christian stupid…maybe both…take your pick…they know Christ died for their sins and that Hillary is not a Christian because she refuses to condemn Muslims.

That’s the Trump voters…don’t worry about the pot-smoker Bernie crowd that will vote for Johnson…they should all just move to Colorado…if only they had enough energy to move out of their mom’s basement

Stuart Stevens, Republican strategist, last night said the electoral votes aren’t there for Trump no matter what the polls said. Don’t know if Id’ take that to the bank, but considering Romney lived and died by Republican polls, he might know of what he speaks. Fingers crossed.

You want to know one thing that former Sanders voters have seemed to forget?

That in their supposed anger, they have no problems with blowing up the entire nation if it suits them. Solely due to being upset that their guy didn’t get the nod to run for the office of President.

However, the ones saying they’ll sit home, or only vote for down ticket, or will vote for Johnson or Stein, seem to not realize what we’ll get with a Trump presidency versus a Clinton one.

The worst we may have under Clinton is that she’ll continue to do what Pres. Obama has been doing. That’s pretty much it.

Under Trump, however, we can guarantee that he’ll be sure to change the makeup of the SCOTUS so much that it will make the Lochner years looks like child’s play. If the Republicans hold onto the Senate, you can guarantee that they will find ways to weaken Constitutional rights, if not decide to dispense with it completely. There are plenty of right wingers that would either like to see us return to something along the lines of the Articles of Confederation, or to re-write the Constitution to only be rights for a very small subsection of the country. On top of that, we can expect at least 3-4 wars being started and the world economy crashing worse than has been seen in modern times.

But yeah, I can see how Clinton and Trump are exactly alike in every way.

Well, I liked your post but I disagree with much of it.

We don’t really need to worry about the former Bernie people who now go to Johnson or Stein…yes, I said that…because 80-90% of Bernie supporters will “close their eyes and vote for Clinton”.

These angry Bernie supporters going to vote Johnson or Stein, insignificant numbers…and one angry ex-Bernie Stein or Johnson voter is equal to all non-angry Bernie to Clinton voters…but it’s a 1 to 9 ratio. Most Bernie supporters who are rational will vote for Clinton. A few won’t vote, and that’s the equivalent as those that vote for Stein or Johnson…useless waste of a vote, no matter how angry they are on November 8.

He’s never heard of Aleppo, either.

What’s remarkable about these articles is that they’re describing people who feel that Clinton isn’t doing enough for them at the same time the only benefactor of their non-voting is the guy running the most overtly racist and bigoted major party campaign in a century, supported by a political party controlled by legions of bigots.

The African Americans and Hispanic millenials who can’t warm up to Hillary have, by far, the most to lose with a Trump victory. I agree that it’s on the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party to turn out the vote, but holy hell this is cutting off your nose and both ears to spite your face.

The numbers on Hispanics also support my belief that choosing Kaine would do little or nothing for Clinton, in comparison to what choosing a Hispanic Veep would have done.

To rich white libertarians, Aleppo is a dog food, right?

I suppose I should have stated that I meant the disgruntled Sanders voters versus the ones who actually have listened to him.

In August, Clinton led by seven points, 45-38,…

The GOP really is a miracle-worker when it comes to managing bad candidates. That The Donald Drumpf is now a viable candidate for POTUS is nothing short of amazing. I hate the GOP.

Five points is quite a bit. And, this is a national poll. I just don’t understand why they are given such credence. Still, best not to be complacent. Gary Johnson and Jill Stein aren’t going anywhere. Their egos are dangerous.

I’m sure that you are arguing with someone, but it ain’t me.

Johnson is way better than Trump. But then again, so is my cat.

For at least the last year, I have been saying to to anybody who would listen that this election is going to be CLOSE and that the candidate that turns out the vote will win. It’s time for Democrats and progressives to pull their heads out of their asses and get excited and motivated for HRC - even if it’s false excitement or fear of a tRump presidency. If nothing more, we need to have HRC and definitely not tRump nominating judges for the fed courts and the SupCt.

Whomever was cheering Hill on during those primaries in which her African American bonafides were touted have their work cut out for them. Same goes for Latinos. However, to me, the main culprit (about 99.99%) is the MSM.

The MSM knows the disaster which awaits us with Trump. Chuck Todd and Andrea Greenspan and their bosses know it as well. We now see here that the MSM is beyond control. They have decided that they will do all they can to weaken Hillary Clinton and elect Donald Trump. There is nothing that can be done about a NYT editor…or an MSNBC editor. Or a CBS editor. Or a CNN editor.

NOTHING.

These people are not elected. They cannot be be removed from their positions. Even if they could, there is no time to change what they are doing. I was buoyed some time ago by Ezra Klein’s supposition that the MSM does not wish for Trump to be President. I do not believe that now.

When I look at Andrea Mitchell’s countenance…with that smug smirk, as she goes about enabling the election of Donald Trump…I do not agree with Ezra.

They are normalizing Trump. That’s why they brought aboard Conway and that’s why they kept people like Ailes and Bannon in the basement. As more and more Republicans start to realize that Trump can win, the snowballing will resemble the job the MSM did with Trump earlier in the year, when their butterknife questions made him viable to a plurality of GOP voters.

In the meantime, as the NYT article about the (young) Latinos and African Americans suggests, these two sets of people will live out the rest of their lives with the residue of President Trump.

For anyone who is a minority, they had better get ready for some startling experiments of human nature when the element of “shame-for-expressing-racism” is removed from the American body politic. By 2018, those minorities who make it will be murmuring that people they hiterto considered raving racists are “all right” (just don’t fire me)

With people like Todd and Greenspan it is a wonder that Trump is not leading by 20.
