For a number of years this has been my issue with a lot of the business reporting at places like CNBC and obviously FBN. They lavish praise on CEO’s, however mediocre like they are omnipotent gods while doing few segments about the lives of the workers who make these companies successful.

IANAL, but I’m presuming admitting in court in a defamation suit that you said a bunch of defamatory stuff and didn’t bother to verify it and furthermore didn’t care is…pretty damning? But I dunno. Is that how the law treats it?

Also, we had a good jobs report today. And the “disappointing” jobs report for September was revised and now looks very respectable.
But you wouldn’t know that from all the doom and gloom merchants and their outrage porn.
WASHINGTON, Nov 5 (Reuters) - U.S. employment increased more than expected in October as the headwind from the surge in COVID-19 infections over the summer subsided, offering more evidence that economic activity was regaining momentum early in the fourth quarter.
Nonfarm payrolls increased by 531,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said in its closely watched employment report on Friday. Data for September was revised higher to show 312,000 created instead of the previously reported 194,000.

Pretty much everything except the pee tape has had some secondary verification that it’s true. All of the Russkie contacts going on and all that. More of the criticism of the contents has been that you didn’t need the Steele dossier to confirm things because parts, like folks traveling to RT in Moscow could be verified independently, but that’s not questioning that the stuff happened.
Cohen, for example, offered “proof” that he wasn’t in Prague because he had no passport stamp from there. But you don’t get passport stamps while transiting inside the EU, and it later turned out that he had flown to Italy at the right times.

You always want to be careful with legal terms because they’re often defined in ways that don’t fit the common-usage connotations. That said, this would seem to fit the definition of “reckless disregard” for the truth or falsity of what you’re saying, at least according to the 90-second course I took on the subject at Google U.

I hope everyone got a chance to read Josh’s brilliant editorial from yesterday. He very effectively articulated a growing and serious problem among Democrats that is as damaging to our chances next year as anything else-the doom and gloom. You can’t win at something you’re already thoroughly committed to losing. We also can’t expect the MSM to be upbeat about our chances when we talk and act as though we’ve already lost everything. To make matters worse, Dems hold the House, Senate, and the presidency. To be sitting around acting as though the GOP controls everything only makes us look weak and ineffectual. It feeds the media narrative in a way even beyond what the GOP could hope to do. Looking back, I think that’s a lot of what happened 2010. Dems stayed home in large part because other Dems told them we had already lost so why bother.
As Josh said, “The only answer or path to repair is … how can I put it? Well … really to grow the fuck up. Dust ourselves off, try to build and internalize an ethic of strength and resilience even if it is only at first within ourselves.”

We Democrats have to have a more robust messaging system/arm of our party’s arsenal. Maybe my having been a Service Brat dictates this statement.
Knowing about the Polish Cavalry (on real horses) facing down German tanks in September 1939 did it for me in terms of appropriate-materials-for-an-unfair-fight.
