A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things.
In newly aired deposition videos obtained by CNN, Rudy Giuliani and pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell admitted under oath that they hadn’t bothered to check if their conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and voting tech companies were true when they repeatedly regurgitated them in public.
If you look closely enough, you may notice that this is a conscious strategy by both of them to claim that at the very worst, they were merely reckless with the “facts.”
When in truth, they know full-well they were spreading lies.
We know this to be the fact for Giuliani, in that his (drunkenly offered) “remedy” for the election situation was to tell Trump to just, “say that we won.” This was the original lie, from which all other lies sprouted.
For Powell, it is her excuse that no reasonable person would believe the shit she was spouting.
And that economy is healing in the wake of the pandemic. Jobless claims last week dropped to a low since the start of the pandemic, down 14,000 to reach 269,000 last week. This is about 75% lower than they were when Biden took office. In early January, they were more than 900,000. We are almost back to the level they were before the pandemic, when they were around 220,000 a week. About 2.1 million Americans collected unemployment insurance last week, down from 7.1 million a year ago.
Facts don’t matter, of course, but this certainly makes the nonsense about nobody wanting to work because they’re collecting money get shot full of holes. When is the media gonna start really reporting instead of coddling the myths perpetuated by the GQP?
Perhaps, but it’s friday and I’ll gladly pause whatever I’m doing to watch their faces as they realize that the SS trumptanic is sinking with all the fleeing rats slowly being sucked under by the currant.
Giuliani was just too darn busy to look into it all , he told the lawyer of a former Dominion Voting Systems executive suing him and Powell for defamation.
It’s also not Giuliani’s job to make sure his claims were based on fact, he argued. “Otherwise, you’re never going to write a story.”
Powell argued the truth wasn’t really important, claiming that it “didn’t seem to be the material part of the inquiry.”
These two sound like a couple Communist, socialist, Marxist radicals.
This new grand jury is reportedly looking at how the company valued its assets. Vance has said he was investigating whether the Trump Organization had manipulated the value of its assets to reduce property taxes or obtain better loans.
The job of forensic accountants just got more critical. This is what has been needed from the beginning for this organization. Now to make the reports simple enough to NOT lose the criticality of the information, but not so complicated that the average jury member can’t understand the basics.
Also,
Americans “want more sunshine and less depression,” Murray argued on the Senate floor yesterday.
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the chair of the House Jan. 6 select committee, said yesterday that he’s signed 20 subpoenas that could go out as soon as today.
So, Bennie is passing out toilet paper later. Good to know.
Wait, what? This is astonishing news! TPM alum Tierney Sneed works for CNN now? I did not know that!!!
The actual story was reported what, a couple of weeks or more ago? But video is always fun, watching the stupid old bullshit-spewing bastard squirm. It’s the testimony-giving equivalent of watching someone’s hair dye melt and run down his face. When some people start off saying “We had a report” you just instantly dismiss everything that comes after.
Give her some credit, saying you won’t go to jail because you’re white and blonde and have money is pretty much the definition of white privilege. She did the good guys a favor there, going ahead and dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s.
I’m sure it’s draining to record the current day events as will be known by many of us of the attempted destruction of America.
I can’t imagine she isn’t uneasy, daily, about the things she’s writing. Hell, in the brave, new authoritarian world, they may come for her first to silence her.
About the same time they comment on the S&P and NASDAQ being at record highs. Or average salary increases up again last month by another 4.9% (and companies are raising the entry level amounts, not just the top), even mfg payrolls are up. Long term estimates of inflation are definitely down.
