Most of the stuff in Steele’s dossier is unverified/unverifiable. And he never claimed anything else. Now what he strenuously rejects is that he made it all up himself or something, or was simply snookered by a disinformation campaign. His collaborator Dashenko is in some hot water with the FBI over apparently being less than forthright about his contacts with a Democratic strategist named Charles Dolan, who provided some of the details that were then passed on to Steele and made it into the dossier. None of that was material to whether the information in the dossier was accurate, however, including the infamous alleged “pee tape.”

I this point I think it is widely understood that the Steele Dossier was, in fact, a clever bit of sensational disinformation designed and intended to distract us from the Orange Shit-stain’s actual criminality and foreign entanglements. It contains, for example, not a single word about Dmitry Firtash, one of the Russian mobster/oligarchs for whom everyone’s favorite obese personality disorder has been laundering money for years and years.

I wish Democrats would start bragging on their accomplishments instead of worrying about an off year Governor’s race. As Coronavirus numbers go down the economy will come roaring back and we’ll be able to take credit for that too! Stock market is soaring! Be a cheerleader for a change.

Defamation of a public official requires distributing information with malice that you knew was false.
They are setting up a defense where they didn’t know the things they were saying were lies because they never even attempted to verify them. And if they didn’t know the information was false at the time then it’s stupid or an accident, not criminal.
Their defense relies on Dominion being a public official in the eyes of the court.
