Dems Announce Two Articles Of Impeachment: Abuse Of Power And Obstruction | Talking Points Memo

We’ll, there seemed to be credible claims of undervaluing properties for tax purposes and inflating values for mortgage securitization purposes - i.e. Mortgage Fraud. A very straightforward crime and one easily explained to the masses. Once out there he could be framed as a bumbling grifter, instead of this renegade asshole saying all the mean stuff at the holiday dinner table your relatives won’t let you say, which is what currently makes him a hero to the mean kids.

If Republicans can convince so many Democrats that we’re wasting our time, they can certainly convince their voters that they have no choice but remove THE GUY EVERY REPUBLICAN SAID WAS A CONMAN IN 2015.

I was obviously referring to the entire effort to go after Clinton, not simply the House vote, and I believe you knew that.

Clinton was impeached for perjury and abuse of power. He’d actually done these things, but over something that for many was not an issue of national security. These counts against Trump are a little more onerous and affect the safety and security of the country.

This is something that the Dems should be drumbeating every day, and maybe that effort has started. The nation has been attacked and there are people at levels of authority who are more than happy to let it happen. That needs to be reminded daily.

I hear what you are saying about needing a candidate to unite around, but Nancy Pelosi is the voice at the top. For the people who matter, the sane among us, she is the moral leader of the country. She is being heard, and the impeachment proceedings are sinking into the American consciousness. Everybody does know he’s guilty. Trump is underwater in state by state polling.

Nothing will be forgotten? This is America, the home of the 18 second attention span. Much of the magic of Impeachment was how unsullied it was by MSM. They couldn’t spin it or claim it never happened or say it was NYT/WaPo driven. Are people going to tune-in en masse to ongoing House hearings? Remember Mueller’s Report or testimony? Impeachment has it’s own momentum and could keep going, those other hearings might not even get televised. Mark my words, those motivated to alter news and confuse and blizzard the media are going to be in overdrive now. This moves away from the live hearings and the live cameras to the MSM panels. This is about Ds controlling the narrative FOR ONCE in my fucking life and now giving it away.

McCarthy’s gas lighting, lying and straight up fuckery is deplorable in his response.
Just wow.

I guess you missed what they said about it. This is about a clear and present and ongoing threat to the nation in the form of fucking with the election.

That’s not something that you can drag out for months in the run-up to the election, or the whole premise falls apart (i.e. if it’s not urgent, then it must not be a big deal, and if you’re willing to run investigations for six months, then it’s certainly nothing).

So just.stop.it.

No one GAF about the USMCA. It’s the deal Pelosi made with her purple state Dems to vote for articles of impeachment. It helps buttress the notion that Dems get stuff done. It also tells voters that you’ll get a lot more done with Dem gov’t instead of divided gov’t. Pelosi knows her caucus.

The Republican Brand used to mean something. Conservatism used to mean something. In the current era, I don’t think either of those things exist anymore, as a result of gerrymandering and fractured media that allows people to choose their own protected info bubbles. It’s pure tribalism at this point.

Something I have wondered about, is what happens down the road when one of the WH inner circle like Pompeo, Mulvaney, Bolton, or Giuliani eventually cracks, and writes a book or goes on a TV show to say “yeah, of course that’s what Trump did. I was there and heard him say it.”

That’s going to make Senate R’s who denied that Trump did any of this look either foolish or enabling. But again, we’ve probably shifted so far into pure tribal politics, that they’d get a pat on the back for protecting Dear Leader in his time of need.

I don’t see the masses going along with multiple impeachment, but would actually welcome a Columbo-like series of “Okay, oh wait - just before we send theses articles over to the Senate, I have one more question about this recording we got from that Russian guy”. Run that a couple of times to keep control of the narrative while you get through all the pending subpoena cases so everything is out during the election cycle…

Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?

It’s also considerably changed from the original Trump-promoted deal.

I need to stay optimistic and still maintain my sanity amid Trump’s insanity.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Yes. I think the messaging on this from the Dems is much better than I expected. If you’re an IA voter, you know Dems get your back and aren’t just in this to get Trump. That matters to indie voters.

They’re waiting to see whether Sanders or Warren get the ticket. Either one will keep them at home or swing them to Trump or a spoiler. Hillary redux.

And that they don’t obstruct Trump out of spite. The impeachment is about specific acts.
