Ben Ginsberg Issues Warning To Fellow Republicans About Law Governing Electoral Count | Talking Points Memo

Al Sharpton for Speaker  : - )

How about creating this law with the provision that it become enacted in 2025 and it is part of a package that outlaws gerrymandering and other “goodies”?

It would be interesting to hear if Ginsberg is actually a supporter of the Constitution, or another R shill. If the former, this may be a very clever argument for convincing corrupt R legislators to do what any supporter of the Constitution would want to do anyway.

This guy isn’t sane. Nor is he saying what they did was wrong. He doesn’t give a fuck about the law, or protecting democracy. He’s making a case for the Reich to find another, more clearly ownable way to cheat because the Democrats could use this cheat against Republicans. Like when SCOTUS handed the presidency to Bush the Lesser, and explicitly stated in their opinion that this was a one-time deal, that it was not precedent and could not be used as such by the Democrats…see how easy elections are when you’re a fascist piece of shit?

Yay! The Revolutionary Prison Diet™. It’s sure to be that a big hit with all the freshly convicted 1/06 MAGAs. How nice that they will all come out slim and trim and O so happy. Midrift bulges and beer bellies will just melt away. While they’re at it they can take a few classes and see the shrink on the taxpayers’ dollar. Maybe get a few chapters of their books knocked out.

Texas prisons are well known for their liberal free time policies. Yup. Just one big happy campus.

Wasn’t Ginsberg on the news channels after the election knocking down each of the Trump team loony schemes and saying there was no legally valid path to retain the White House.

Ginsberg - in the eyes of Trump Loyalists - is now just another never Trumper

President Trump has failed the test of leadership. His bid for reelection is foundering. And his only solution has been to launch an all-out, multimillion-dollar effort to disenfranchise voters — first by seeking to block state laws to ease voting during the pandemic, and now, in the final stages of the campaign, by challenging the ballots of individual voters unlikely to support him.

Well, there is raisin jack and pruno…

What she ain’t gonna find at the prison commissary are protein shakes and protein bars.

Or, that won’t happen because those laws will mostly get laughed out of court like Trump’s election lawsuits. I think the likely outcome of all this isn’t that the GOP tries to copy Trump’s election gambit across the country. There’s little evidence of that actually happening. I think they continue to double and triple down on making it harder and harder for people to vote.

If that’s what they have to tell themselves -that VP Harris would behave as corruptly as they have - in order to pass this bit of election reform, I suppose I can grit my teeth and accept it.

You can break any law in prision that you can break out of prison. Just have to get assimilated into the prisoner’s economy. It could be a rough transition for a Suzy Sorority accustomed to suburban Texas white priveledge.

One person, one vote may be the law of the land, but if they can make it such that for some populations only 3 in 5 can vote, they can get some of that sweet Originalism they crave!

Are both parties the same? They are, if you ignore all the evidence and observations.

Not a matter of either-or. It’s a mater of all the above. Nothing is off limits. No holds are barred. Where voter suppression does not work, they have placed backstops into their systems for making sure that the failure of voter suppression isn’t the failure of their last line of “defense.” Everything from las allowing them to take over county elections to make sure that Dems are not running them to laws allowing them to toss results and pick their own electors over the choices the people made. January 6, 2021 was not the worst it’s going to get. I was a dry-run. A recruitment effort and probing feint. It’s the status quo normal going forward. It will be much MUCH worse in the elections coming up…and it will be far more widespread, not just concentrated into one single tantrum at one single location. And it WILL be followed by them getting violent in locations where they haven’t been able to succeed in getting what they wanted.

And, of course, the reason we’re here is because Trump (and many Republicans) cannot win without cheating, and he simply will not acknowledge losing. The entire Republican Party is cowardly going along with Trump as he destroys the underpinnings of democracy because they think it accrues to their advantage. But what will they have won when the foundation is crumbling and for how long will they enjoy their hollow victories? Because there will be counter-reaction, in whatever form it may arise.
