2016 Redux: Clinton, Sanders Campaign Keep Up Beef Three Days Before Iowa Caucuses | Talking Points Memo

I HEARD the catcalls from the Bernie-ites during the Democratic Convention of 2016.

Two speakers were emblematic of why I was enraged. One was a military person. He was catcalled, but acquitted himself well.

I also heard Cory Booker…at least I heard some of his words because he was drowned out by the catcalls…but damned if he didn’t keep going, became more passionate and, in the end, received a substantial applause from the general audience.

That was a Big Deal. To me. To HRC’s campaign

What if Bernie had stood up and motioned his followers to quiet themselves (after all HRC was the Nominee)…and then gone up to the stage and embraced HRC?

I think Mr Martinhecht has finally jumped the shark.

People can choose their own candidate. But it seems to me to be a bit odd that the four congresswomen Tlaib, Omar, Jayapal, and Ocasio-Cortez chose an old white guy over the one of the female candidates. For example, there is a lot of policy similarity between Sanders and Warren – with one big difference that Warren has actual detailed and cogent plans, Sanders is hiding behind smoke – so why doesn’t one of them support her? What is it about Sanders that he is such a magnet? I do not get it.

It’s weak to see TPM joining in on this non-story. A few seconds of booing a prominent politician who has unnecessarily criticized the campaign. Boo hoo.

Hillary was stating facts as she sees them. Something she has every right to do.

Bernie’s supporters are responding by behaving like 12-year-olds who lost a playground fight.

And Bernie does nothing to pour oil on troubled waters—which is a backhanded way of encouraging his most fervent cultists to respond as they have done.

He should be out there kissing hands and shaking babies and trying to expand his base of support. Instead, he relies on whipping his supporters into a frothing-at-the-mouth bunch of malcontents who are willing to burn down the party and give Trump a second term.
That may not be his intent—and I don’t believe it is—but that is the effect, nonetheless.

It’s all Bernies fault:“Clinton’s favorable rating among Democrats fell 11 points to 76% just after the election; it has not improved significantly in the ensuing months, and currently stands at 77%.”

Bernie is an Independent & should not be allowed nor eligible to run for the Democrat nominee.

Sanders as nominee is disaster. Guaranteed win for GOP.

Talk about voter suppression. Democrats do not hate Trump enough to even go out & vote for Sanders.

When Sanders came out on the stage last night, did he tell his supporters that he doesn’t tolerate the booing of Hillary Clinton? Does he tell them that the party and the country need unity now more than ever. Does he tell them that whatever hard feelings remain from 2016, he will need her support - and will seek it - to bring the party together?

Nope. Nada. Nothing. Bernie thinks he can win without any of that. We shall see.

Possibly.

But for me as someone who is not a Bernie hater, his passionate supporters tend to turn me off, while other Democratic candidates’ passionate supporters do not.

The majority of Sanders supporters view these Democratic representatives as trash. But they see former SoS Clinton as the enemy to fight against. Not only is this “not helpful” it’s quite masochistic.

Sanders’ net approval fell 6 points since the Jan. 14 presidential debate, with 73% viewing him favorably and 20% viewing him unfavorably.

The thought that terrifies me is that should Sanders win the nomination and then the election, we’ll have 4 more years of a Trump-like, narcissistic, egomaniac representing us here and abroad. I’ll vote for Sanders in the general if I have to but with no enthusiasm.

Bernie has really turned the strategy of, “Throw the rock, hide your hand.” into an art form.

Hillary was quoted from an interview 2 yrs ago when there was no Sanders 2020 campaign. Hillary responded to the question about how she felt about Sanders.

Please, never ever tell a woman, who in this culture are talked over, shunned, lied about, ridiculed for their opinions, to STFU. That day is gone. We are talking. Talking the truth. And we, 66 million strong, will be active in this campaign.

Don’t want to beat a dead horse but that’s a long way to go to get to 36%. Why is she doing this?

The “Art of the Smear”. Yup, Bernie got that lesson well. Lie, promise free everything, your opponent is crooked, sans any proof, and the press? Well, they let old men get by without vetting.

She was asked a question, 2 1/2 years ago. Hillary answered it truthfully. Duh!
