This!
Okay, here’s an article from the New Yorker, not exactly a fire-breathing socialist rag.
All Hillary is doing is putting a bit of heat on Sanders about the ‘unity’ question because she doesn’t want to see him mess around the way he did in 2016 should he finish 2nd or worse. Sanders folks keep taking the bait, which is a sign of their immaturity. Racists and bigots like Joe Rogan are ok. Hillary, not ok. Why? One criticizes Sanders. The other embraces him. Cult much?
She got her $150,000,000 consolation prize from Wall Street and special interests. She ought to be able to afford a good therapist to deal with the pain.
You will have to admit that there is a world of difference between voting for John McCain and Trump.
This is helping Boost Sanders in the polls.
Why? Because his followers are just a cult that share patterns with feral trumpers. Their Leader can do no wrong no matter how racist, misogynistic, rude, insane and/or downright scary they are. They will always support their Leader. Sanders isn’t gaining more supporters in the Dem Party, the Party that he’s running with. Until November.
Trump is going to have some problems, post acquittal…but he will enjoy this.
So will Trump’s operatives, here and abroad.
I, too, was enraged that Sanders was going to run again. Given how the 2016 election went, and the ghastly aftermath, if I were Sanders, I would have become an elder statesman helping to guide the Democratic nominee to victory in the 2020 election.
But Bernie is one of those people who cannot see such an effort without HIM as the central figure.
And comments like Tlaib’s only intensify the passion against Sanders. (and against her, but she will figure that out).
Votes don’t count “extra” because the voter is extra passionate. Sanders needs to grow his support, not alienate it. Quite frankly, the fact that he isn’t hasn’t been able to come to an amicable peace with HRC speaks volumes about his inability to build or grow a coalition.
She isn’t running for office, he is. Th onus is on him to show that he can mend bridges and build a big tent. And, through the continued work of his staff and his surrogates, he continues to fail that test.
Well, with all deference to the New Yorker, this cover Bernie’s ass article early in the general election campaign was just not true. Everyone - and I mean everyone - on both sides of the 2016 political equation knows it, too. He did everything he could to sabotage her campaign, and it worked just enough in the college rich states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin to put Trump in the White House. Don’t believe me, just give Jill Stein a call.
Like I said, I’m staying out of the fight. I’m just telling you what I observe. And you certainly can’t argue with the fact that more passionate supporters means more canvassing, etc.
I cannot agree more. He is a lot more “Latin American” than most people realize.
Maybe they should both just focus on the 2020 repug competitor.
Yes. You offer any criticism of Bernie in a comment section at your peril. You will be tsunamied with vitriol.
There’s another aspect to this that I think needs clarifying:
Sanders is gaining more support IN THE PRIMARY with White people who will not support him IN THE GENERAL. Opponents of the Democratic Party (using that as a blanket phrase) have learned how to play this game. The Dem primary in W. VA in 2016 was a good example of this.
Bullshit, offered without any proof.
Because she can articulate the arguments against Bernie without it backlashing against a candidate that is running.
"as long as it’s somebody who can win, and as long as it’s somebody who understands that politics is the art of addition, not subtraction.”
Priceless.
If Sanders doesn’t get the Dem nomination, can he then turn and run as an independent again? That just can’t happen, if so we are totally screwed.
