Yellen Updates X-Date, Says US Will Run Out Of Money On June 5

Me, too.

I call it a “progressive tax system”. We oughta try it one of these days.

(I volunteer at the local food pantry, myself.)

Scheduled spending is not debt. And it is specifically United States debt that cannot be questioned under the 14th Amendment.

This is what happens when you have a bunch of idiots called the “Freedom Caucus” who are willing to drive this country’s economy into the ground. Kinda like Donald Trump and those three Casino’s in Atlantic City.

Until Qevin can actually put something up to his caucus for a vote, the Dems are shadowboxing. He’s no Nancy I-never-stop-whipping Pelosi!

My mood: just peeved, pissed, and teed off. Mostly because of their demands are petty and stupid.

Under the Radar Joe

Definitely not the average Joe :face_with_monocle:

The schmoes are the GOP

They may well have to deal with votes themselves

No. Joe & Yellen have Qevin’s balls in a vice and they’re letting the House Freedom Caucus turn the crank. This is going to work.

Nice deep cut. “I’d rather eat Johnson, sir!”

The specific payments that go out first (at least for Social Security) go to those who receive SSI – IOW, people who might literally die without that check

Joe is so much like the last person you wish to rile up. NO PERSON, upon ascending to the Presidency, has had as tough a struggle as Joe Biden.

(1) Joe was denied adequate preparation procedure upon being elected

(2) A large swath of people still deny his position as POTUS

(3) The grounds upon which he took his Oath of Office was invaded by insurrectionists

(4) The legislation he achieved passage was fought tooth and nail by an assortment of opponents

Comparing Nancy Pelosi to Squeaker McCardboard is like comparing a Gerald Ford class aircraft carrier to one of those little pedal-powered boats you can rent at the lake.

Yay! That’s my birthday. I already get to share it with the assassination of Bobby Kennedy (who died the following day). Now I get to share it with another negative event.

The poverty rate in Garret Graves Louisiana district is around 13%. The state itself ranks near the bottom in most sociological measures. As usual his ilk will spite his own constituents just out spite. But with SNAP they seem to forget that it’s the farm economy who derives a lot of the benefits from them.

Why the hurry to update?

“Triumph over adversity” has kind of been a defining theme of Joe’s whole career.

POTUS comments on negotiations.

“There's a negotiation going on. I'm hopeful we'll know by tonight whether we're going to be able to have a deal," Biden said.

"I hope we'll have some clearer evidence tonight, before the clock strikes 12, that we have a deal. But it's very close and I'm optimistic.”

This date, as difficult as it is, has to be the last date change.

Else, the whole house of cards collapses because Yellen and co. can’t accurately give them a date for the impossible. You know darned well, if it moves again, the Horse Feathers caucus will just scream and laugh and point out how incompetent the administration is and they shouldn’t be allowed to run the government. They can really whip this up, as ridiculous as it sounds, as a good reason to put TFG back in the WH.

This has to be the last date.

He’ll be POTUS one day in our lifetimes…I feel that’s a sane bet (vid)…

One hopes it is, but it’s Yellen’s job to be truthful, so if the date does change, then she is duty-bound to report that. Having said that, my understanding is that the latest date is the result of shuffling money around, so June 5 does appear to be pretty final.
