I think it is absolutely crazy to think that we will pay debt service to China while we let veterans and Grandma starve.
That is as a political reality, should the debt ceiling not be raised, service on the debt will not have the highest priority. I mean can you imagine the reaction when it is reported that instead of providing SS, payment to veterans and current active duty troops and hospitals and costs to secure the border and…Biden is paying first interest to China and banks America bailed out 15 years ago.

I would demand a rich guy like the guy you mention fork over a million or three to help out the poor.
I would add I volunteer for a senior assistance outfit locally. I take groceries to 18 people every 2 weeks. Our little outfit feeds about 135 folks. I volunteer which means i do it out of kindness and no pay. I have seen poverty. I would welcome Gianforte should he show up and donate his time to shlep grocery bags out of the back of my 27 yr old Tacoma.

House is not in session and cannot issue a subpoena. Besides, as 2017-2020 demonstrated, congressional subpoenae are enforced only if the current white house chooses to.

They are not made every day of the month. Only on four specific days, one of which is the first friday of the month (june 2nd). That’s $25 bil of short term retail voter pain if those checks don’t go out.

Even then Congressional aubpoenas aren’t enforced. Contempt of Congress is a relatively meaningless misdemeanor charge. It does nothing re subpoenas.
