Yellen does not state that there will be a debt default. Debt service is only 12% of federal spending, and that spending can be prioritized even if we hit the debt limit. What she more correctly states is that there will be inadequate money to fully fund government operations starting June 5.
As we’ve already started to hear, to the Freedum Kaukus, this is clearly a sign of yet another Biden administration scandal to investigate and, if possible, Benghazi!
