WSJ: Trump Admin Threatened Iraq’s Access To NY Fed Account Over Proposed Troop Withdrawl | Talking Points Memo

Trump wouldn’t have to ask. I’m jaded enough to think the Saudis would offer it knowing that he would accept.

Just you wait Mr. Max, if they continue to hurt the Big Stinky Cheese Man’s fee fees, then he’ll have to play his last card-sanctions.

Many countries maintain accounts with the New York Fed in order to store government revenue in the form of U.S. dollars. In Iraq’s case, much of that comes from oil sales.

Just wondering here: wouldn’t that be illegal? What say you, international lawyers?

Also, would this childish tantrum nudge countries to move away from the petrodollar?

Immaculate Contraception?

Sanctions have been flying. Trump sanctions one thing, then another thing. What eventually happens if a man-baby runs out of stuff to sanction without achieving any of the intended goals?

Just wondering.

And the problem is compounded by the fact that he surrounds himself with people who are equally stupid and ignorant who think they, too, are genius experts.

Now oil is bought in dollars even when Saudi Arabia sells oil to Japan the deal is in dollars. There are powerful forces trying to change that and powerful American bankers trying to block any change.
This threat from the Trump administration would be some powerful support to get the American dominance in international trade damaged. And damaged beyond repair.

I suspect a lot of Wall Street bankers have gotten on the phone screaming about this threat.
