World Health Org Warns Against ‘Immunity Passports’: ‘No Evidence’ People Can’t Be Reinfected | Talking Points Memo

The World Health Organization on Friday warned against assumptions that people who’ve recovered from COVID-19 will necessarily avoid being infected again.

Okay, so if getting SARS-CV-2 and developing detectable antibodies does not protect against subsequent re-infections, would a vaccine even be possible?

I think that’s the question.

But what this does show us is that this notion of Herd Immunity is bullshit.

If this is true, then I have to assume that Covid-19 isn’t going to turn into a one-off disease that people can forget about once their infection is over like chicken pox. It’ll turn into a disease like the flu where we have to get annual vaccinations in order to ensure there isn’t another massive outbreak.

Fast forward to a month from now, when Dr. Donnie blames the WHO for not warning that having had COVID-19 might not result in immunity.

That does seem to be the direction in which we’re headed with this.

I figure we’ll need a shot every year, and presumably, like the flu, it won’t cover all strains. Frightening article in the Post today about how young people are getting massive strokes from the virus. People should be more aware of this.

Our worldwide social order as we know it will most likely be radically changed, but not ended.

I was in the process of posting the same article. I found this development rather horrifying.

Patience is the best medicine for this virus at the moment. I say that as someone that hasn’t hugged his wife (who is a Doctor) in about 2 months or my mom.

I vote that we hire an army of introverts to redesign everything this time around. The extroverts have held sway for way too long with things like open office designs.

The virus would never have had a chance in an introvert-led world.

Yes, I told my son about it (he’s 32) and told him to tell his friends. I suspect that these younger adults had mild symptoms that they ignored (as they’re apt to do). My daughter is a hypochondriac so I’m afraid to tell her …

Maybe our “leaders” could actually keep people up to date on essential information like this. That’s a joke.

I don’t think the WHO is saying it won’t protect, just that they don’t know the details yet. Could be flu-like and mutate a lot, as people are saying, or could be short-term immunity, or (I think, though I’m no virologist) could be that a vaccine would produce an immune response that’s adequate and different from that of an infection. Seems like they’re also allowing for the possibility that it will – they just aren’t sure yet.

Can I ask HQ to make sure your bunker is on a different continent from mine next time around? :smirk:

Some would rather keep us up to date on what toxic products to inject.

Can medical experts here explain if this means herd immunity won’t apply with COVID-19? Thanks!

SOROS Group International™ has bunkers on all 8 continents (including the one in the middle of the Indian Ocean that he’s successfully kept off the maps, the one that the Malasian Airlines flight flew to). So I’m sure it’s possible.
