Why The GOP Debacle On The Hill Is Like Pro Wrestling

From MM: Musk is a “pawn in Trump’s chessboard, like everybody else,” said a person close to Trump[,] …”If it were a chessboard, [Musk would] be a bishop.”

So stupid they can’t even maintain the analogy within one sentence; either that or musk is so awesome he’s both a pawn and a bishop!

I don’t disagree with your decision. Privatized mail is not all bad, though. If postage rates truly reflected the market, people in rural areas would receive a lot less junk mail. Which would be good for the environment!

Pro wrestling requires a level of talent that the putzes in the GOP can’t even begin to fake.

One of the things the evil goobers tried to strip out of the funding bill was $190 million for a childhood cancer research outfit to cover their funding to 2033. Now Musk could cover that with pocket change , assuming he had a heart.

In Canadian news today……

A thief driving a stolen front-end loader crashed into the only bank of a small Newfoundland town this week and made off with the ATM in the back of a dump truck, in yet another case of “backhoe bandits” plaguing the easternmost province.

It was the third time this year robbers have plowed heavy pieces of machinery into businesses, in an effort to steal cash from ATMs, one of many such heists in the past several years, according to police.

The people in the laid-back town of Holyrood, about 30 minutes from St. John’s, awoke Monday in shock to see the Royal Bank branch essentially bulldozed into a pile of bricks and crumpled steel beams.

I think they meant ‘cheeseboard’

If true, this is an interesting development. Johnson knows he needs a substantial number of Dems to pass anything.

It would be fitting if the House is unable to certify the results of the election because they’re trapped in a fight over choosing a Speaker fueled by resentment from having to stay in DC over the holidays.

This is incomprehensible. And disheartening.

Yeah, a “pawn” that made it to the far side of the board and was promoted to Queen, or something.

OT: More evidence in this NYT analysis that the supposedly nefarious drones are just normal aircraft sightings, with a small number of legit drones in the mix. A result of social media hysteria, combined with people who have no idea how many aircraft are flying overhead at night. Free gifted link:

Not being able to go home is the one point of pain that even the crazies have, which is why I think they’ll pass a three-week continuing resolution just so they circle back to the stupid next month.

This man really ought to be Speaker. I hope for sufficient disorganization, “individualism”, protests, and just plain butt-holery in the 2025 Republican House caucus that somehow, Representative Jeffries is accidently elected Speaker.

Would that not be a hoot, or what?

Whatever happened to ANNUAL BUDGETS the grown ups used to pass without alla the histrionics. It’s fucking disgusting. The US has elected amateurs and has a foreign born unelected president and an elected fake V-P who thinks he’s already in office

I’m waiting to see how Trump destroys Musk. Government taking of Starlink? Dropping tariffs on Chinese EVs?

Private companies can skim off the most profitable parts of a market without having to accept the entire market. The USPS is the delivery service of last resort and must serve everyone. If DeJoy couldn’t break even given all the constraints that are put on the USPS, then a private company will need to jettison those constraints. I predict that we would lose 6-day-per-week delivery, that rural residents would be required to drive miles to a central delivery location, and that prices would skyrocket. The people would would lose the most are those in remote communities without transportation, wifi or computers. There are more of them than we think.

Trump is gong to run the country as a business. He has already outsourced the presidency.
