Hegeseth was bad, RFK Jr is atrocious, Patel is beyond belief, but why TF is Gabbard about to destroy Intelligence and 5 Eyes (et al.)?
Let’s not let a good tragedy go to waste. No other plane crash was ever piloted by a white Christian heterosexual male. What a fucking scumbag.
The Rump doesn’t know his own junk from a stick in the mud. His second deepest anxiety, after avoiding prison, is being upstaged by anyone who does.
Between his favorite drunk at Defense and the emptiest suit in a roomful of zeroes at Transportation, I’d say the federal work product has been enshittified too much already.
I do believe you are onto something here. I frequently reflect on Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. Some people get into a position with the leisure to do as they please, whether through wealth, career choice, position of authority, what-ever. And they don’t have the insight, empathy or character to act well. To me, they seem to become insane.
I’m not eloquent enough to express this well, but it seems very real and obvious to me.
Defense and Transportation are still fighting over Ben Carson’s office furniture.
Thanks for publishing this. I’ve known the family for a while. Mike taught me tennis 50 years ago. Nice people, but they must not be put in charge of anything. Her loyalty is to Butler, not trump or America.
From Faux News -
Trump went on to highlight a series of articles covering the FAA’s “diversity push” that he said occurred prior to him taking office.
“The FAA is actively recruiting workers who suffer severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website,” he said.
While that language was present on the FAA’s website during the Biden administration, it was also present during Trump’s first administration.
No worse than Coney Barrett.
This is just the kind of post a suppressive would write.
get him!
I fear anyone that backs or voted for Trump.
What Trump and his clown car and freakshow are doing is not a problem so long as the issues raised are of their own making. But when issues or a crisis arises that is not of their making, they will be totally unable if not also unwilling to do what needs to be done to mitigate or otherwise handle the crisis.
That is the question that needs to be asked, and it has a real simple answer, is:
What will bring down or otherwise end the Trump clown car and freakshow?
The answer is a crisis not of Trump’s making like COVID.
In his first term, a combination of good governance by Obama combined with very good luck resulted in all the crisis Trump face until COVID were, like the trade war with China in his first term, of Trump’s own making and therefore under his control. If you remember, Trump claimed great victories by doing things like replacing NAFTA with NAFTA and starting a trade war with China and ending it by caving to China and declaring victory.
He is doing this again, creating hysteria over all sorts of things so he can end the crisis by just stopping what he is doing and declaring his brilliance has lead to great victories.
This only works when Trump is the one causing or creating the crisis to begin with and therefore only has to stop what he is doing to end the crisis.
However, like with COVID, where Trump does not create and therefore does not have control over the crisis or can otherwise end the crisis by simply stop doing what he is doing and declare victory, he and his clown car of freaks and weirdos have no ability or tools to get through or otherwise navigate the crisis and he looks, because he is, totally incompetent and unable to handle it.
I fear what such a crisis could look like because by its nature it could be something unpredictable or perhaps even predictable. But by its nature, like COVID, the crisis will be terrible and it will happen.
The only thing we need to guard against is we do not make the same mistakes we made when Bush Jr. incompetence caused 911 and we rallied to him and he then lied us into a disastrous war. I hope Democrats learned that lesson with Bush but after what happened in the last election, I have serious doubts.
But in the final analysis, what brings down people like Trump is when they lose control over the narrative and that will at some point happen because we will face a crisis not of his own making and Trump with his clown car freak show is totally, as he was with COVID, unprepared to handle it.
He also immediately lunged to remove the FAA head – to create another space for a flunky – even though we have no idea yet what the cause was. Absolute opportunism, and particularly shameless when applied to a tragedy.
Correction! I later learned that the position had been vacated voluntarily a while back. So his unseemly lunge was just to install someone, not to create a vacancy first. Still, seems boorish to move so fast.
Yes, just like Neil Gaiman was raised as a scientologist. His father was, I believe, the UK spokesman for the cult.
Cults create damaged people.
I’m so glad Pete Buttigieg had a sharp retort for the Incorrigible in Chief: https://www.axios.com/2025/01/30/pete-buttigieg-trump-plane-crash
Pete could debate trump and leave him a drooling mess, but he’s far too much of a class act to stoop to trump’s level.
Exhibit A? MAGA
As F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote a century ago:
“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them…"
Exactly. Kool-aid was too expensive for that number of victims – er, congregants.
I’m going to go with “Vishnu” for $200, Alex.
So what was he doing in 2016-2020?
