For some time now, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott have been locked in a high-stakes competition, using anything and anyone as props — including vulnerable migrants and children — to score points with Trump supporters and collect MAGA clout at a national level.

Citizens are getting what they voted for. Neither Hot Wheels nor Meatball Ron made a secret of what they were going to do, and both won handily.

Does either get the prize for the highest percentage increase in their states excess death rate, or does that honor accrue to another of their party’s governors?
It looks like Abbott is the one with the ideas and DeSantis is mostly behind the curve.

Absolutely. DeSatan won by 20 points. Florida voters are getting exactly what they wanted. Greg Abbott won by 12 points. Their policies suck, but you can’t say they don’t have a mandate (of hate, rage, and inhumanity)
The fundamental cause here is the Hannity-Carlson-Ingraham Axis.
They and Fox stoke resentment, anger, and fear. Why? It makes them money. It’s a perfect (ly awful) money making machine. Just look at the numbers of viewers.
It’s as simple as that.
Let’s not forget the great state of Misery (MO). They’re doing their damndest to keep up with the Joneses down there in Jefferson City. (We’re all so proud.)

10.9, after winning by 13.3 in 2018. That’s right in line with my rule of thumb that Texas is turning blue at about 0.5% per year. Considering Ted Cruz only won by 2.6 points in 2018, it’s quite possible Ted could get knocked off next year.
It’s a contest between two truly awful people to determine who can destroy our country. Whether is bullying businesses to submit to the fascist line imposed by the state or to destroy education, Abscess and Meatball Ron™️ just hate any who don’t meekly prostrate to the power of the state.
Like the movie “Predator v Alien,” one can only hope both lose everything before they move their hateful act to the national stage.
