White House Defies Court Order Lifting Its Media Ban

This is how it’s done:

Given the absolute petty nonsense of this crew, I assume they’ll now refuse to ever call on these reporters.

“The controversy over freedom of speech and of the press is at bottom a controversy of the desirability, or otherwise, of telling lies. What is really at issue is the right to report contemporary events truthfully…” – George Orwell, From The Prevention of Literature, 1946

I think this is what a cornered, desperate man who knows he has few if any good options left does. A man whose poll numbers are in the low 30s and still dropping, and knows he’s about to lose big in the next election, which does, however, make him all the more dangerous.

No, you aren’t wrong, but look at the miscreants that would have to actually do all of that.

And who’s going to enforce it with his personal lawyer in charge of the DOJ?

Next year could be interesting, but nothing’s happening until then.

Wouldn’t matter, besides a few hours of laughs.

I don’t recall the exact sequence of events, but Ron Vara actually did months in lock up for refusing to testify before congress.

And if judges would just start throwing the representative counsel in the slammer for this shit, the remaining folks would think twice before showing up completely unprepared and then ignoring the judge’s rulings.

Not seeing anything at the Guardian on a change from the White House yet. But this is quite encouraging. Good to see there’s not a complete absence of spine in everyone in DC:

The Guardian’s Jeremy Barr reported late this morning that ABC, listed as the president’s TV pool for today, was refusing to enter any events during Xi Jinping’s visit until furnished with proof that CNN, the banned fifth member of the president’s standard TV pool rotation, had been allowed back on site.

Thing is, even if they start holding people in contempt, the First Felon can still pardon them on federal offenses.

Of course he did, which makes this morning’s stunt all the more asinine.

But they aren’t assigning that same protection to the folks under him. And they’re the ones carrying out the actions.

De Nile is a river in Africa. He wasn’t held accountable last time, and that was with a more or less functional DoJ (apart from the somlonent coward at the top) and before the Roberts court made him God-Emperor. Even 34 felony convictions made no difference. Zero chance of it this time

3 news outlets still barred from White House despite order, request new hearing
Reporters for the three organizations said they continued to be blocked from entering White House grounds on Sept. 24 despite Kelly’s order. However, an MS NOW producer was granted access, the network said, as well as a CNN producer. Theodore Boutrous, a lawyer representing the media outlets, asked Kelly to hold a hearing “as early as possible this morning” as he seeks to restore their credentials.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment when asked whether it is still enforcing the ban despite the judge’s order.

I don’t think anything has happened after Jan. 1, 2021 that would lead anyone to believe Donnie wasn’t intent on seizing absolute power.
He didn’t get in bed with the Project 2025 folks by accident.
I don’t think this is something he’s being pushed into but is something he long ago chose.

Yes, he probably would. But I’d make him do it for a couple of reasons. First, he might just fold like he just did right now on the banning the press thing. When he meets resistance, he often backs down. But even if he doesn’t, philosophically, I think we should do the right thing by putting down a marker by demanding he obey the law.

Secondly, if he does pardon everyone charged with contempt, there’s a political price to be paid for doing that. That’s not as satisfying, but it would happen.

Somebody has to do it anyway. Throwing up your hands and walking away is exactly what they want you to do. Mission accomplished and the line is moved yet again.

So I listened to the song, “Love Me” by JMSN and damn not something I would of thought would associate with Trump. It’s a beggin’ song. So from the visuals you posted and Love Me is pathetic.

For some time, I have thought there is an underlying, unspoken logic in the way the White House and the DOJ openly defy federal court orders. It goes something like this:

The Supreme Court granted the President broad immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts (which would otherwise be crimes) committed while in office. So crime away. At some point the Supreme Court will, at its leisure, when confronted with alleged unofficial acts, decree what the dividing line is between official and unofficial acts. Until then, the administration will assume all acts are official and crime accordingly… take us to court. Would have thought that immunity covers criminal conduct, not violations of the Constitution. Administration may think that’s up for debate.

So. If we, the President and the executive branch in the name of the President by Executive Order, ignore or break the law, we are presumptively official and immune unless and until the Supreme Court rules otherwise. And free and clear to ignore and contempt any judgments or rulings of the district courts or appeals courts… because we’re immune.

John Eastman, Jeffrey Clark and Kenneth Cheesebro would get it.
