the advantage of the China argument is that it allows a clear denial (for GOPs ears only) that the Trump administration bears any responsibility for their woeful response. i think Navarro has gone cra cra or is into the powder with Kudlow.

This Canadian agrees, America has to be isolated until a resemblance of decency gets voted in. Americans are getting through our borders. I have seen more then one car plate from States bordered to Ontario. Would you believe they are coming through Alaska as well?

Or it’s a definite tactic in this reality-denying administration to say something you want one constituency to hear, even if it’s considered repugnant and crazy by all the others, and then deny you said it. Now it’s out there, the target constituency knows you love them, and as for the denial, they just nod and wink and say “He had to say that. But we know how he really feels.”

Navarro has been accused of many things. One of the things he has never been accused of nor is he guilty of is being smart. In that his batting average is still 1.525, a rare achievement.

I’d have to agree that the Chinese Communist Party can’t be trusted for anything but Navarro is a dupe for the Rump and is equally untrustworthy.
What gets my goat is the implied racism of labeling all the people of that country, including expatriates and long time citizens of western countries, as the problem. All the while most of the world have been apolitical and doing much better at finding solutions to deal with C19. I also note that despotic leaders, Putin, Rump, Bolsonaro and a few others have botched it and need to demonized a people and culture.

That’s been known for years as the Gish Gallop, for creationist Duane Gish. KAC’s pretty good at it if you just need to shove someone out in front of the cameras to at least pretend you can justify your latest outrage. But Navarro’s way makes it explicit that you don’t care if what you’re saying is plausible or true.
