Whistleblower Docs Confirm Census Delays That Could Kill Trump Plan To Skew Count | Talking Points Memo

New internal documents obtained by the House confirm that the Census Bureau has hit some snags as it moves through the final phases of the 2020 count, as first reported by TPM, and that the scope of the issues has increased since the Bureau identified them last month.

Fixing the “anomalies” — as the routine data issues are called — will push back until after the inauguration

They fucked up the Post Office and continue to try and fuck up the census. I for one will not miss Wilbur Ross. He is at his best while napping through a Trump speech.

If it pushes the reporting of the results beyond Jan. 21, I’m all for it. The new Commerce Secretary can announce that they have no confidence in the estimates of undocumented immigrants, and can provide only an accurate count of “persons” in each jurisdiction.

The administration has no idea how involved any professional task is. That is one of the problems with electing someone who has no idea how government works and who believes that he should be able to demand results for anything at any time. Good for the Census Bureau for insisting on taking the time to do it…if, for no other reason, to keep him from jacking with the census to skew it for the GOP.

You mean like hiring a business person to run the government? We should all hope that our experience with Trump has completely and irrevocably dispelled that myth.

As if Ross would have no compunction about ignoring Congressional subpoenas…please make it stop.

The myth of Republican “competence” has been with us for years. If GW Bush didn’t break the spell, nothing will. Of course, one could argue that the problem has been that we’ve hired business failures to run the government. But I don’t buy that, either. Running the government bears almost no relationship to running a business. Totally different skill set.

ETA: Oh, and Cheney. A complete fucking disaster in business. Damn near destroyed Halliburton.

We have met the enemy and they are muttonheads.

And then there is the problem as to where Trump legally resides:

Donald and Melanie almost certainly said on their census form that they officially lived at Mar-A-Lago when they don’t. Is that a felony, too?

We had a student from Egypt living with us when the census arrived. The form asked how many people were living in our house at the time? The form didn’t put restrictions on that, as far as I can recall. I included him in the count of people living in the house, even though he was due to go back to Egypt in the summer.

Sounds more like a zoning violation (assuming they told the truth, which it appears they did).

Well, there’s Bloomberg, who, whether one agreed with every policy of his or not, was a competent Mayor. How he would do as President is another question. Good Presidents need to inspire, something which his debate performances shows he is not good as, whereas Mayors don’t need to inspire.
