Probably not. And if we have doubts, our fallback will be Generals.

Personally, I would hope for employees of the Bureau who care about getting it right to delay the process until it can no longer be influenced by the orange one. Also, I see no reason that Pres. Biden can’t halt the process as of January 21, if it’s going to send out incorrect data, and instruct the Bureau to correct as many deficiencies as it can.

You make my point perfectly. The realities and demands of leading a diverse nation of 330 million people requires a skill set that is far beyond an MBA, much less experience as a crooked development shyster like we have had for the past four years.

For all of the people who have commented things like “The gang that couldn’t shoot straight” and “The administration has no idea how involved any professional task is” I think you are missing the most important point – and that is like the DoJ, FBI, State and other agencies – never underestimate the power of the rank and file civil servants, the ones who do the actual work, to f*ck up the most nefarious political plans by simply doing their jobs like professionals and acting in non-political ways… and when pressured by political hacks, to slow things down, and use the regs to their advantage. I think this is really a case of the Census people slow walking their work product under the guide of ‘unforeseen issues, complications and snags’ to deny Hair Führer the opportunity to politicize the process. They are probably approaching this apolitically, like professionals, as they should and now are using the process to give him the middle finger.

Then again, how many of our Presidents would have known how to stiff a contractor who did some work on the White House?

They’re still going to release the numbers. They’ll be known to be false, but when has that bothered a modern republican.

HHS has issues with their collection of hospital numbers regarding Covid 19 and now Census has issues with their collection of population counting. I see a pattern here. What’s next.

Doesn’t matter. Trump will sign something on the 18th or 19th purporting to be the apportionment numbers anyway. He and his KKKult aren’t about to let this get away from them without at least an attempt at closing the loop. Whats more, forcing it to congressional hearings and court cases will give them ample opportunity to feed a right wing media narrative about Dems trying to rig the system against GOPers and rural folks.

Imagine the squealing if the Georgia AG said there “were anomalies” in the vote count.

“Good news, everyone! We’re so incompetent that we’ll have to work overtime for two months just to be late!”

They made the sensible decision not to try in-person enumeration during the height of a pandemic. The subsequent decision to shorten all the other timescales without any additional funding was malice, not incompetence.
