What's So Special?

RE: Joni Ernst and the Hegseth nomination.

I lived in Iowa for 14 years in a rural county with a college town, serving as county chair for the Dems for about 10 of those years.

Hard to imagine Joni Ernst losing enough Republican women in a primary to lose the nomination.

But I didn’t think that Kamala Harris would lose a general election to a misogynist either.

Joni and the Dems could construct an alliance where enough Dems temporarily re-register as Republicans before the primary to support her and stimy whatever revenge candidate Republicans put forward should she vote against Hegseth.

So all the FBI has conducted was the Brett version of an inquiry?

America is the most diverse country in the world and almost always has been. DEI bad?

Nearly half of the entire US military is Black, Hispanic or Other. DEI is bad?

Racist people are genetically inferior to the rest of us: They think they can read someone’s mind based on the breadth of their nose. That is the level.

We will have to drive these throwbacks from the earth in order to survive and evolve. We won’t.

We’ll drown with them, to the song of their whimpering self pity.

Diversity, equity, inclusion. Liberté, égalité, fraternité.

Eat the Rich.

So, if North Carolina “tosses out” those 60,000 ballots, what OTHER races are going to be affected? Because if those 60,000 North Carolinans are going to be disenfranchised, then every last candidate and issue that they voted for needs to lose their votes as well.

That’s going to be taken care of, right? Even if it means other Republicans will lose races that they thought they won? Right? Right??

The FBI is a right wing organization stuffed with religious zealots. Particularly Mormons.

Thats why Comey had to interfere against HRC. He was staving off an internal revolt by FBI lunatic right wingers.

There is a deep state, and it is Republican. How can you tell? Shit, Republicans launched an insurrection against our country live on TV and didn’t even get charged.

Nothing to see here.

And just imagine, the FBI background check was done during a Democratic presidency and NOT under the direction of Kash Patel. If this FBI is this ham-fisted now, wait until the Orange Buffoon’s picks are running the show.

Trump’s flip-flop on banning TikTok over the past four years reveals his attempt to balance these countervailing factions.

Fatso is looking for an angle by which to trade favors, with himself as the beneficiary. He has no interest in balancing anything beyond his own checking account.

So? You don’t need to be a former General to run the civilian Department of Defense. It’s a purely civilian position. You do, however, really need some kind of experience, as you note, managing large organizations, because the DoD / Department of War is the biggest.

Heggie lacks this experience, regardless of the size of platoon he may or may not have “led.”

Scored some political goodies.

Again, I seriously doubt that if there was any outbursts by the defendants or the lawyers involved in those other trial that they were handled as mildly as Trump’s outbursts.

The large scale employers of undocumented migrants like meat packing plants and big Ag companies would be difficult to prosecute, because undocumented migrants don’t apply for these jobs directly. They’re processed and hired through employment agencies that specialize in finding work for undocumented immigrants.

I read an article about this somewhere recently, might have been in the NYT. The employers aren’t required to ask if they’re documented, and the employment agency doesn’t volunteer the info. Don’t ask, don’t tell. Of course the employers know they’re hiring illegals, that’s why they use these particular employment agencies. But it gives them plausible deniability.

As you point out, it is now. The proof is in plain sight.

I’m a bit surprised to see how much diversity is on tv. Two male characters holding hands. Two female characters hugging and kissing. One black, one white. There’s an Asian in the group. Whites and Blacks and Hispanic kids dancing together.

And that’s just the pharma commercials!

I don’t deny that, but the handling of this case by the judge and staff was no different, even in the face of the defendant’s behavior.

Why wouldn’t Democrats support a Democratic candidate? This is a Senate race, not a gerrymandered House district. And for this one, single issue, when Senator Ernst will be sure to stab Democrats in the back many, many times prior to the next primary in a few years?

If Hegseth gets the nomination, and Petey is found to be a colossal failure, how would he be removed? DonOLD won’t remove him, because that makes DonOLD look bad.
Will there betting a betting pool if Petey gets the job and how long it takes for him to crash and burn?

Back to the NC Supreme Court election. If Jefferson Griffin wants 60,000 votes tossed then doesn’t that mean that those 60,000 voter also illegally voted in other races, for other items on the ballot?
The problem that has been described is a clerical errors.

Won’t matter. Once that labor is gone, it’s gone and it won’t come back anytime soon.

Nevertheless, I am required by law to fill out an I9 for every project I work on. It is astonishing for me that these businesses do not have the same requirement.

Exactly. This is a conundrum that cannot be ignored by any court adjudicating the matter. Throwing out 60K votes affects every candidate on those ballots. The only fair and accurate resolution is to recount all the votes or hold another election. What other options are there?

The loser is just throwing everything at the wall to see how long he can fuck up the legitimate election process. Stupid and costly, and possibly consequential for his fellow GOP members who might actually have the results flipped on a recount/re-election.

Of course they know where to find the most obvious of the undocumented. So do I and I’m a liberal dem. with no particular knowledge. Anyone even slightly conscious knows that they are heavily represented in the meat packing industries and the construction industries. That’s where the right will find the biggest bang for their bucks and the least resistance from ordinary citizens at least at the beginning. Once they start trying to round up housekeepers and landscapers in our front yards and homes, that’s when it will get really ugly. Imagine ICE knocking on your front door and demanding that we turn over Maria or Jose. Now let’s imagine them also trying to find people in the less obvious industries: hi tech bros overstaying their visas, Eurotrash in fashion and entertainment (Melania, much?), or even the person with the suspicious accent (a good friend who hid in plain sight for many years and was never questioned because her accent was from England and not from Mexico). But I suspect that the latter group will continue to escape scrutiny because they have the potential to be seen as real 'Murricans at least if they have pink skin. Being eye candy is helpful in that regard.
