even though the reality seems pretty darn clear: [Jordan] doesn’t have the votes.

Jordan has NEVER had “the votes” for anything. He "represents a minority faction that can only “win” when its efforts are NOT voted upon. Subject them to, you know, Democracy, and the fail. Every time.

The GOP is not a ‘dysfunctional political party’. It actually is no longer a real political party at all. To borrow the words former PM Naoto Kan of Japan once used to describe the LDP, the GOP is now simply an “election machine”. It exists solely to elect GOP pols, who will then go on to repay their donors, oppose everything that Dems propose and attempt to ‘own the libs’.

“Democrats Divided”  I get regular confirmation of the wisdom of my decision to stop watching CNN years ago.

It’s time for a moderate Republican coup against the MAGAnistas. The word “moderate” here is a relative term.

and the fallout from that confab exposed growing concerns about extremism within GOP ranks, reported The Daily Beast.

We came into the day promised another vote on Rep. Jim Jordan’s bid to become speaker. It never happened.

First the vote was supposed to be midday, then delayed, then maybe in the evening or even later. Nada.

An unusual story from Albuquerque:

In a campaign video and on his campaign website, Otero said he was incarcerated. He wrote in response to a Journal candidate questionnaire — yet to be published — about a felony conviction he received more than 25 years ago after struggling with addiction.

“I see that as a strength,” Otero wrote, “because for too long we’ve elected leaders without the experiences many of our community members face every day.”

In his written answer, he did not specify what crime he was convicted for.

Otero, 50, said Thursday he was convicted for aggravated assault and drug charges. He could not recall the exact years he spent in prison, but said he was 19 or 20 when first incarcerated.

New Mexico state court records list divorces and a warrant for failing to appear in court over a parking ticket. But there is no record of a felony conviction, or any record involving drugs or assault, according to the Corrections Department.

Intentional torts are not dischargeable. Defamation is an intentional tort.

Get 'em, Dominion.

Unfortunately, as Jennifer Rubin pointed out, there are no ‘moderate’ Republicans.

Some college kids moved out next door and left this kitty behind. He adopted us but prefers to be mainly outside. He and our ancient cat aren’t getting along for some reason.
