I’m just glad that Biden report didn’t come out the week before the election. meow.
Garland is saving the Weiss report to deliver later.
Wow TPMs coverage of Hurs political smear job was quite a disappointment.
Really TPM, He was funcking Jim Comeyed!!!
Talking heads said Garland could have edited out all the persomnal opinion in that report. If that is true.WHY NOT
Josh had a good take in his EdBlog on the front page:
Robert Hur totally slimed Biden with these gratuitous comments about his mental acuity and memory, referring to him as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” Even if you assume they are the product of a good faith evaluation they are still wildly inappropriate.
I thought Garland gave up oversight of the case from the start, he never should of put a political hack in charge of it though.
I guess I’ll say it; Garland needs to be forced to retire. He should never have allowed a report that VIOLATED DOJ procedures to be released, and he should never have appointed a republican as special counsel so as to “appear fair.” An absolute disaster of an Attorney General.
A better take but it doesn’t go nearly far enough, it’s basically criminal what Hur did.
Over the past two years I’ve seen comments on these pages to the effect that somebody is not a real Democrat if s/he criticizes what Merrick Garland is doing. DOJ is supposedly playing 9-dimensional chess, and anyone who does not see that, and Garland’s masterful role in it, is just a whiner or a concern troll.
The Hur “report” is really the last straw. In that case, Garland’s failures go beyond his habitual, quaking timidity to a degree of collusion with fashioning Republican talking points about Biden. What the hell did he expect he would get from appointing a Republican to investigate Biden?
that showed how little the justices actually know about elections and indeed federalism
Falderalism.
the political press is delighting in the blood in the water and won’t soon settle down.
As they’re wont to do.
Life lesson: Own your own media company and you own your own truth.
Sell it hard enough and you can be king.
Put me comment in the wrong place. Ooopsie!
We needed a pitbull to fight back agaisnt the bad faith injustices the right has been operating in, but instead we got a slow walking appearser.
“If fascism is a disease, then the United States is a vulnerable, immunocompromised patient unaware of its own risk, unwilling to alter its behavior to protect itself, and working hard to convince itself that everything will be fine.“
That’s one of the most concise and spot on sentences of political commentary I’ve seen.
