What Is The Point Of Knowing The Whistleblower’s Identity Now? | Talking Points Memo

House Oversight ranking member Jim Jordan (R-OH) said the same, raising the importance of identity in determining the credibility of the initial complaint.

I think we already determined that the complaint was credible because WE FOUND THAT EVERYTHING THE WHISTLEBLOWER SAID HAPPENED, HAPPENED.

Jesus these people are pathetic.

The point is to make this about the Whistleblower instead of what he or she is blowing.

That is like with everything else involving Trump, Republicans cannot bring Trump above the sewer so they hope to change the subject from Trump being in the sewer by dragging the Whistleblower down to the sewer thereby making it personal against the Whistleblower instead of the crimes and lies of Donald Trump.

This attempt is very consistent with exactly the whistle that is being blown; that Trump was and the Republicans were trying through personal attacks to drag Joe Biden down to Trump’s level knowing they could never raise Trump above the sewer.

Why do they want to know who the whistleblower is? For the same reason that gang members want to know who made the anonymous call to the police that ended up with one or more of their members being arrested - retaliation.

Rapture? Maybe they’re just confused with raptors from the Mesozoic era or a hilarious misunderstanding of the word “rupture”.

If I heard something bad about me, I’d like to know who said it. Not only guilty people.

All Trump has, all he has ever had, is ad hominem attacks. That is the playbook now for the entire Republican party. Their entire ideology is built false premises based on logical fallacies and argued with cheap debate tricks. Anyone who tries to stand up for anything is quickly pushed over the side of the descending elevator as they continue to sink lower in their amoral race to the bottom. It is all about winning at any cost, money and power. There is nothing else.

There is no room for ethics or conscience any more - none. With all my heart I want to believe this will doom them.

Intimidate others from coming forward. Retaliation and distraction are gravy.

What is the point of blowing the whistle blower’s identity? Well, it’s illegal to do it for one thing. But then we are talking trump and when has he cared about the law?

“…they need to paint the WB as a Democratic operative and part of the Deep State in order to taint the entire impeachment inquiry…”

Good. As someone said above, the WB could be the Pope and they would still go after him with pitchforks and torches.

How anyone could see trump as doing s good job or be would be willing to reelect him is beyond my understanding. That there are at least 50 to 60 million people who will vote for him is something that I cannot compute.

He won KY by 30 points. Jeez. His 40% are those looking to stick it to the libruls who think they’re better than us poor folk. We may not be Ubermenschen, but we try to do the right thing for the country we love.

Don’t point at me donald, it’s impolite.

“… Their entire ideology is built false premises based on logical fallacies and argued with cheap debate tricks…”

And with Fox echoing their propaganda it gives it a legitimacy. Lewis Carrol and Orwell would have understood.

They should be careful what they wish for. The whistleblower just might turn out to be their worst nightmare.

The guy who called 911 about the fire once voted for a Democrat, so it’s only proper to let the capitol building burn.

To scare him/her

To intimidate other potential whistleblowers

They’ve been saying that for two thousand years. Perfect record of false alarms. Hard to beat perfection, and well, the call was perfect.

We know why Trump and his gang of haters want to know.

So they can take the most vicious vengeance against him they can, which for his gang may very well include violent assault.

And the want to do this to keep other whistle blowers from coming forward, as well as simple primitive retribution.

No.

That isn’t where things stand now: it doesn’t matter what his stated political affiliation is; anything against Trump is de facto evil and therefore even the staunchest, historical conservative who does so is a ‘Democrat’ or worse. Full stop.

The point is to make people look over there, not over here. The point is to make “whistleblower” a dirty word, just like Trump keeps saying that “impeachment” is a dirty word. The point is to make a counter-accusation. The point is to stoke anger and suspicion. The point is to jeer and trash talk.

Got it now?
