What Does Today’s Immunity Decision Mean For Trump’s Delay Strategy?

Thx…

If Trump were an ordinary defendant with good lawyers, he would have cut a deal 3 years ago.

You might be right. But they haven’t seemed willing to bail him out of his most egregious acts. Even the fringiest conservative justices don’t want a lawless president.

Of course it’s a threat. Also sort of amusing. Gee, no President, ever, has been indicted after leaving office, for anything at all. Not Warren Harding, not Andrew Jackson (who killed a man in a barfight, ok, before he became president, but still), not Dick Nixon. Now comes Trump, and all of a sudden everything has changed, and all presidents will be indicted immediately after leaving office. What inexplicable cause has brought about this total reversal of tradition? What has happened, since Obama left office and was not indicted, such that indictment is now automatic? What could it be? Thinking…thinking…

He still has the insanity defense. Every day he continually shows us it is believable.

The article says 5 and I was told at least twice it was sourced by a really experienced litigator (actually I agree with you. It is 4 for cert and 5 for a stay.) Anyway, beyond Thomas who is going to vote to grant cert or a stay? The Supreme Court hasn’t shown Trump any favors during his legal tribulations.

Idk about that…it’s very likely Hailey will be GOP candidate if they rule against him. Hailey appeals to quite a few Dems that focus on Biden age. Personally, I hope the Swifties off set that as they are dominated by females who are fertile & practicing reproduction, and Hailey supports a federal ban on abortion.

Almost all of the J6 defendants who have been convicted at trial for obstructing an official proceeding have been remanded into custody after the verdict comes in. Team Jack didn’t oppose trump’s pretrial release, but postconviction bond might be a bridge too far.

He has a filthy mouth and a bad attitude.

I don’t know if she would even run, though. He has beaten the GOP into submission (not hard to do with a party that doesn’t care about anything beyond power itself) and I think he would run from prison as the Libertarian Party candidate to deny Republicans the White House if they kicked him off the ticket. I also think there’s a small chance he will take one of three entirely different paths: A. Try to negotiate getting the charges dropped in exchange for dropping out of the race and starting his own TV network headquartered in Florida. B. Openly call on his MAGAts to stage an armed rebellion against the US if he is convicted of any charges. C. Become a sovereign citizen.

Now comes the 4 dimensional chess game. I think we need a different candidate against Hailey than Biden. Joe is the only one who gets to make that decision.

This is a good gut punch … but … many more need to hit directly & hard … this son of a bitch is still standing … staggering … but the asshole still has a pulse.
Wonder who he will tap as a VP candidate - very hard to imagine it would be anybody with the potential to outshine him ( paranoid loon that he is - can’t risk having a competent replacement in the wings).

In terms of Trump’s campaign/ candidacy / political viability … it would be ideal if it went terminal- necrotic late September/ early October …and continued to become more rancid at an exponential rate… with zero chance for any of the GOP to parachute out … and absolutely no chance to make any substitutiins.

If Nikki Haley gets the nomination as a result of a Trump conviction, she MIGHT get some swing voters, but the MAGA crowd won’t vote for her or even show up at the polls. A Trump conviction likely gives Biden a second term, but his first task will be to quell a MAGA rebellion.

4 for cert, 5 for a stay while the case is pending. He could easily get one without he other.

Dumpy is the only Republican ticket in town for a shot at the Presidency. The red hats will never tolerate bird-brain Haley and there is no Dumpy-Jr waiting in the wings (paging DeSantis). The Supremes may not have ruled in the Dumpster’s favor in the past, but they almost always gave him/his administration a stay or pass to allow the horribleness to continue for much longer than it ever should. I just don’t see them abandoning the only chance to get Biden out of the White House.

The day Trump is in handcuffs, on his way to prison, will be the day this country can begin to heal from his malevolence.

And mark my words: Trump will go to prison.

Are we talking about Mango Mussolini or Dave Chappelle?

Having a lawless POTUS means that their power is reduced, and Lenard Leo would have the sads.

It’s not the tribulations that I’m worried about, it’s the trials.
