White House press secretary Jen Psaki reaffirmed the Biden administration’s support for Neera Tanden, President Joe Biden’s embattled nominee for director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), on Monday.
I’m glad Biden is pushing ahead with Tanden. It’s unwise to defer the outcome of his Presidency to whatever Manchin might deem appropriate. Manchin found it in the goodness of his heart to overlook Kavanaugh’s downside. Yet Tanden is a bridge too far. Curious, indeed.
By Mittens definition, the volume of mean tweets from Fat Nixon should require that he be sealed in a cement crypt and stored away forever like toxic waste.
Manchin also voted for Bill Barr, apparently he wasn’t too divisive or inflammatory for AG but somehow Tanden is for OMB. I think there’s another reason for Manchin not supporting her, would be nice to know what it actually is.
You could have bowled me over with a feather, but Hugh Hewitt of all people actually had a reasonable column in WaPo this morning telling Senators to get over themselves and approve Tanden. “Butthurt” over some tart tweets the nominee made when she was head of a partisan media group is not a coherent reason for denying the POTUS the OMB director he wants.
Mean tweets are a non-issue because of Trump. Mean policy positions that affect ordinary Americans like you and me are a problem. There are plenty of other candidates more qualified for the OMB job.
Trump got to about 57K tweets during his stint. Short-form platform, easy to jot things off. Count doesn’t surprise me at all.
That the worst they’ve got from all of it is literally “the worst”, “Voldemort”, “Moscow Mitch”, and “vampires/ted cruz” says that there ain’t anything there at all.
I hope that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris stand by their nominees. We don’t need rapist-enablers and coup-instigators deciding who get to serve America and President Biden.
Nobody goes around digging up coffins and sneaking into drafty old castles to pound stakes through their chests for something that doesn’t actually exist.
You’re just maybe lucky that you’ve never encountered one.
It’s not just Tanden. They’re now going after Becerra, Gupta, and Kristen Clarke. I sense a pattern. This is basically playing off the ‘squad’ messaging and expanding it to do a proxy war of Harris and those whom the GOP sees as her allies, either by demography and/or ideology.
Add Haaland to the list. Manchin had previously been on board with Haaland and now he’s non-committal.
