The White House on Thursday refused to cancel President Donald Trump’s upcoming Memorial Day visit to the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Maryland, despite Mayor Jack Young’s request.
Does the increased police presence need to actually show up for his visit?
Just leave him sitting at BWI and take the day off, guys.
“The brave men and women who have preserved our freedoms for generations did not stay home and the President will not either as he honors their sacrifice by visiting such a historic landmark in our Nation’s history,” White House spokesperson Judd Deere said in a statement.
Unless it’s raining lightly.
Or there’s a breeze.
“If he decides, however, to move forward with his scheduled trip to Baltimore we will, of course, be prepared for his visit,” he added.
Why not fricking stand up to Trump and bar the city from providing any police participation, any traffic accommodations? Certainly a city is not legally required to do such things. If Trump wants to visit make the Federal government shoulder the entirety of the manpower and logistics required to do it.

The key difference being, those men and women actually DID SOMETHING!
Trump has mismanaged this from day one and has been nothing but an object lesson in incompetence! And him waddling his corpulent frame to the, no doubt, waiting golf cart to chauffeur him around the Fort is emblematic of his inability to actually do the “Hard Work” of leading and his overriding desire to be seen.

Mayor Young is leading a challenging city during a challenging time. That he would be in opposition to Trump on this makes the President absolutely wet himself with excitement on so many levels… basic interpersonal racism, opposition to good government, demeaning Baltimore yet again, causing financial harm to a minority-dominant city, the list just goes on and on with the endless swirling cesspool of dog-whistles to his racist hard base.
Even Machiavelli would look at this and go, “wait, he’s doing what…?!!”
