So if advisors don’t advise, what the hell do they do?
It’s almost as if Cummings has more moral integrity than Meadows.
The name Ben Carson comes to mind. African-American brain surgeon from Johns Hopkins. HUD Secretary. Entirely on board with Trump’s general view of “inner city.”
A lickspittle fully capable of calling Oval Office to tell a Trump to stick to his guns.
The probe is believed to specifically target Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner, both senior adviser who have admitted to using personal accounts for official business.
Wow, Hillary is just ruthless. She went and changed her name to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner so that she could continue to use her private email server under false names. Dastardly! We need to investigate her emails before she acid washes them again! With acid!
Cowards.
Yes!!! And, keep reminding everyone that disloyalty, greed, lying, and bigotry are THE GOP position. Make them own it.
The strategy is to deflect the truthful identification of Trump’s obvious racism, onto people whose “totally-not-racist” identity amounts to never dropping the N-bomb in public, or perhaps even having a Hispanic friend or liking their gastroenterologist from wherever he looks like he’s from. Totally-not-racists are thus whipped up into paranoid frenzy that Speaker Pelosi, Representative Omar and liberals far and wide are all sneering at them, thinking they’re all racists.
I didn’t need to look at the article to know that this was MAGA Haberman doing PR work for Trump.
Anytime there’s a NYT story about members of the inner circle wanting to seem less like assholes its got a Haberman byline on it.
At least Clinton could pass a background check.
Kushner is incapable of doing so. And yet he’s representing the US at the highest levels.
Trump doesn’t think strategically. Everything he does is impulsive. That he has any power at all is an indictment of anybody who helped elevate him.
So those of us who are not racists are now the racists? That’s way too complicated for trump.
I think it’s a great move. Trump is really smart and his advisers are stupid. He should fire them. And be more racist.
I suggest you dig into the extensive writing Jay Rosen has done on this topic.
It’s not a bias or profit seeking so much as an inability to reckon with the fact that Republicans have hacked their culture and conventions. Rosen’s thesis is that journalists as a group seek to prevent the appearance of bias and the cardinal sin of making themselves part of the story by trying to write from the perspective of what he calls the “the view from nowhere” and believe deviating from that view makes them look “unsavvy” which, culturally, is the worst thing they can imagine.
And what they can’t come to grips with is that Republicans have successfully hacked these conventions and use them against them and us.
Aww, those WH people are just scared this will get them yelled at if they go out to dinner.
Otherwise I cannot imagine what would make them say this.
He knows that he’s saying what his voters say and think in private. They love him. He speaks for them, however irrationally or mean it may be.
Thank you!
I think it’s complicated to disentangle Rump from the rightist propaganda machine that’s metastasized around him. Rump is just a narcissistic, racist troll with a fourth grader’s “I’m rubber, you’re glue, what bounces off me, sticks to you” repertoire. He has substantial help with all the bad-faith deflecting and projecting it takes to have large masses thinking they are the ones being called racist.
