I have always been annoyed by the use of the term ‘rock-ribbed republicans’, as if they are a bunch of rugged individualists.
In reality, they all need personal security details.

Optical illusion, barrel of deck mounted gun, like the one on the right.
It does look like Carnival Cruz is getting ready to storm the beaches of Cancun. Again…
Well then I guess that’s a tax payer gun.
Now my question is with this many Republican members of Congress on the boat who told them not to stand in front of the guns?
Guns don’t kill Republicans.
Legal elections do…
How long can this law be held in suspension while court challenges go on and on and on?
As long as it takes.
And that was nine years ago. It’s gotten worse.
Lee with bald spot. Behind him is (I think) Johnson. There are various Border Patrol or ICE folks also visible.
Yes, obviously.
The two are not mutually exclusive. See: Dixiecrats.
Originally it meant a refusal to compromise. Some saw this as good; others saw it differently.
If one takes it to mean just “strong,” then it may not fit.
A certain photo of Michael Dukakis comes to mind.
I sorta agree with that except with one big proviso, there is no ideology with the current gop. Lust for power to maintain THEIR status quo is not an ideology. But that is what drives them. It isn’t even necessarily racism, if the stupid crackers and old white guys weren’t voting their way those would be the targets for the voter suppression.
I think results will do more than anything to stop the gop. And the Democrats need to step up in The state houses to break the gerrymandered grip the Goppers have. And it can be done. The gop has nothing substantive to offer, just fear and lies.
We can beat them on that.
Can’t argue with the statement.
It’s about as accurate as anything else put forward.
“To devastate is easier and more spectacular than to create.”
Friday’s trip? Here are the Republican senators who went:
Barrasso, Braun, Collins, Cornyn, Cotton, Cruz, Daines, Graham, Grassley, Hoeven, Hyde-Smith, Johnson, Kennedy, Lankford, Lee, Sullivan, Thune, Tillis, and Tuberville.
I don’t think it’s just lust for power. Many of them have come to believe the crazy white supremacist ideology they flirt with in public.
Interesting how Warnock is trying to change the territory of the discussion from the standard horse-race narrative.
I imagine if you asked most of those ‘journalists’, they would look at you with blank expressions. Those five interrogatives have no place in the for-profit, cost center media outlets.
Lately Graham seems determined to tell the world in various ways that he’s a huge weenie:
And Mike was none of those things in ’88, and even now he’s only older.
