Well, that’s the thing we’re advised to keep in mind when we ask why things are all screwed up like they are. Not conspiracy, not distraction, not eleven-dimensional chess, just a bunch of crazy ideologues and dopes in a million miles over their heads.

Vindman is from what was the Soviet Union. He escaped persecution as a Jew and came here as a refugee at 3 years old. People like Vindman were called “refuseniks” at the time. The Soviets wouldn’t let them leave the country without huge financial money paid to leave, which many in the US and Israel raised to help them escape their persecution. Ronny Raygun was big on helping the refuseniks emigrate to the US, which is the ultimate irony of this attack on his background.

Clarence Thomas that was more than 25 years ago. You’re still upset over that.

It is baffling to me that the Repub Senators, who all are already quite well off financially, and definitely will be so even if they lose their office, are willing to overlook all this. Something really wrong with our system that we have such ethically blind people in high office in such large numbers.

Now we’re hearing that trump extorted the previous Ukrainian president in exactly the same way. How many people in the administration knew about this too, and helped cover it up?

How many more times has this happened? trump making “deals” with taxpayer funds to recruit foreign leaders to assist in his campaign?

It seems unlikely, but the turtle may finally be thinking of tossing Trump under his own bus in some sort of attempt to keep a few republicans in office after 2020.

So, he’s heading down to Florida to top it all off with large volumes of methane gas from the swamp surrounding Swamp-a-Cesspool.

it seems to me that saying “specifically to the company that you mentioned in this issue” is actually more damning that saying “Burisma”. Trump didn’t mention any company – nor refer to a company at all.

There is nothing in what Trump says here that suggests that Hunter Biden was being prosecuted in conjunction with a company at all, let alone one that Trump mentioned in this conversation.

ETA: ah, perhaps “company that you mentioned” was a callback to Crowdstrike that Trump had mentioned earlier. That, of course, begs the question of what Zelenskyy thought “Crowdstrike” was – and how he knew about it…

Too many lies to cover, one bad turn of phrase slipped through. Incompetence overwhelmed by unqualification.

I find it very difficult to believe that the current occupant would allow anything to be recorded, evver.

We’ve seen how Kellyanne reacts to being confronted with her many lies. She curls up like a viper and starts striking out with personal insults and a barrage of non-sequiturs, trying desperately to change the focus.

She’s the pro at this frantic type of diversion, but some of the other staffers actually do reveal a tiny bit of shame at their complicity. Some just blurt out the truth, a la Mulvaney’s “we do this all the time” confession.

So members of the media pushing back on camera can be effective. I’m sure it’s not pleasant for them, and probably risks losing their access, but it fulfills their responsibility to the public and gets just a little bit more truth out there.
