Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) is demanding that a county commission in his state retract a resolution defying his statewide stay-at-home order to combat COVID-19.
“They do not have the authority to do this,” Tara Lee, Inslee’s communication director, told TPM. “It is illegal.”
What is Inslee going to do to the businesses that defy him and reopen? Send in State troopers to forcibly relock the doors? You know what’s about to happen? A tidal wave of civil disobedience just like this, nationwide, and Governor’s will be faced with some awful dangerous options if they want to stop it. I think State Guvs are screwed once this gets rolling. With the noise Barr is making about making the same sort of uprising essentially legal, and Trump being as feckless as a crack-addled drunkard jonesing for a fix, what’s to stop the revolt? State Guvs are getting ZERO Federal help in quelling what is coming. None.
With that, Commissioner Clint Didier made a motion to make the reopening official, saying that the governor’s order had now been “deemed unconstitutional.”

As a Washington State resident, I can say without fear of contradiction that former gubernatorial candidate Clint Didier is an idiot.
The “Fill-in-the-name Sheriff from Fill-in-the-rural-county has pledged not to follow Fill In the Blank Law/Directive” from a Democratic politician is going to become de rigueur writ large starting sometime in late Jan 2021. Now they’re ignoring legal directives from their governor; in about a year it will be all laws passed by the Democrats and signed by Biden.

I knew without checking that the county would be East of the Cascades where most of the wingnuts in our state live, and sure enough it is. Mostly rural, and downwind from the nearby Hanford Nuclear Site. Maybe the radiation drift is addling their brains.
