Agree. Send in State Police to enforce the law, and if the Sheriff or anyone else defies them, then arrest them, and place them in the general population.

Well the same Dan Patrick, Lt. Gov of Texas, who is advocating sacrificing the weak to the economy, also is the one who had the governor, Greg Abbott, shut down abortions during the pandemic.
Don’t ever tell me again that abortion is about children. It’s about control over women and that’s all it is.

Gov. Inslee did just that last night, although no details on the timing. First restrictions to lift will be “outdoor recreation” (opening municipal and State Parks), elective surgeries, and construction.

Nope, the Gov is not going to send in the National Guard. Not even sure the National Guard would enforce a lock down also.

Yes. State police can enforce orders. State health officials, too, have police powers, including badges. Chicago has a taxing authority that’s TB related left over from 1910, and they have police, enforced quarantine hospitals with bars on windows, etc. Serious stuff.
Additionally, a judge could issue injunctions and direct arrest of specific individuals. Those could include arresting the sheriff.

And one way to accomplish that is cordon off the county. No one comes out, except the US mail, and nothing goes in, even the US mail. Get the names of the Commissoners, their credit card numbers, and their SS#,. They can then pay the medical and funeral costs of the residents of the county.

Yes, back in the day they did. I was in the Army back then and we took riot training. Was issued sawed off shotguns. I was 18 years old and amazed the Army was doing that.

We have the opposite problem in my area. Even though the GOP Governor says the Stay At Home order lasts till May 3, the county to the west of ours is going to lift all restrictions on Friday. They are going to spread the disease like wildfire and then come to our county when their hospitals are overwhelmed…to risk the lives of our first responders.
The gall of these people. A pox on their House. And a firm slap in the face to their GOP president who will not take any responsibility to stop these irresponsible actions.
Trump knows better; but as it doesn’t benefit him personally to stop these yahoos from spreading the virus, we are all being placed at risk by his MAGA. There isn’t a purgatory horrible enough for The GOP’s Second Coming of God and his followers. Forget about them going to hell. The devil wouldn’t take them.
