President Donald Trump, cooped up in Walter Reed Military Medical Center while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 and thus deprived of his beloved campaign rallies, had to settle for the next best thing on Monday morning: Nearly 20 unhinged tweets in all-caps.
We’ve gone from needing a ‘proof of life’ to ‘proof of tweet’ to assess Trump’s condition.

The interview that Pompeo gave on the tarmac from somewhere in Asia (Japan, I believe?) was very odd.
He was asked about Trump’s health but dodged the question. He referred to the ‘team’ said instead that, “We’re fully prepared for all of the possibilities that may take place.”
When he was asked about how the US will respond to foreign actors taking advantage of the POTUS in the hospital he again referred to the ‘team’ and said they’re ready. Again, no reference to Trump.
His mood also struck me. He looked cheery and excited, like a burden had been lifted off his shoulders. The Pompeo I know is incessantly sour, defensive and dishonest.
They seem to be planning for a scenario where Trump is incapacitated and no longer the de facto POTUS. Meadows will be (and probably is) running things. Their goal is to keep Pence out of power.
Someone mentioned it yesterday, but prepare for operation Weekend At Bernie’s.
I think returning to the WH is part of the Weekend at Bernie’s thing. It might even be Meadows’ idea. That way, he keeps tabs on Trump and keeps power in his hands and away from Pence’s. He’ll have the backing of Kushner, Ivanka, Pompeo and others.
But I thought tRump’s tone had softened. He was tweeting about love, a changed man.
